This invention relates to a ski wax containing sufficient poly(alpha-olefin) to assist ski in reducing drag, i.e., reducing the friction between the ski running surface base layer and the snow.
An improved pumpable anti-abrasion/slip ink additive is disclosed comprising a mixture of polytetrafluoroethylene and polyalphaolefin. As an alternative, additional material, such as phenolic resins and oils can be added to the mixture. The additives permit the less costly manufacture of printing inks, most particularly heat set inks and results in print which has improved rub, slip and anti-mar characteristics.
A pressed powder cosmetic eye shadow composition containing from about 40-80% by weight of nacreous material and a binder comprising a dry binder ingredient selected from the group consisting of cosmetically suitable micronized polyethylene wax and a mixture of liquid/solid binder ingredients comprising petrolatum; a cosmetically suitable tetraester having the formula ##STR1## wherein R may be a straight, branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl having from 5 to 21 carbon atoms; and a cosmetically suitable polyolefin (synthetic wax) formed by polymerizing an alpha olefin having the formula RCH.dbd.CH.sub.2, wherein R is a hydrocarbon group having from 3 to 18 carbon atoms.
Wax-based composition for protecting and polishing paint, plastic and metal surfaces, or as a mold release, to remain free of clinging dust, comprising a first hydrocarbon wax having a relatively higher HLB value, a second hydrocarbon wax having a relatively lower HLB value, the first and second waxes being combined into a wax blend having an intermediate HLB value based on the proportions of each wax, a solvent for the blend, the solvent having a given HLB value, the HLB value of the wax-solvent mixture being predetermined by the wax blend HLB value and the concentration and HLB value of the solvent, and a small but effective amount of a quaternary compound having an anti-static persistence at the predetermined HLB value to maintain the surfaces protected, polished and free of clinging dust.
