Abstract
The disclosure relates to a quick release latch mechanism for controlling reclining movement of a vehicle seat back. A spring loaded pawl is engageable with an articulated slidable arm to latch the seat at a desired reclining position. The pawl is pivoted so as to bias the arm away from the teeth thereon due to an angular relationship between the pawl and arm when the arm is released for movement. A cam plate having a lost motion connection with a manual operator controls opening of the latch mechanism.

5052752 - Infinitely adjustable linear seat recliner - Owned by Fisher Dynamics Corporation (St. Clair Shores, MI)

A seat recliner mechanism for controllably adjusting the angular position of a seat back relative to a seat member in response to actuation by a seat occupant is disclosed. The seat recliner mechanism includes a rod adapted to be operatively connected to one of the seat back and the seat member. The recliner mechanism is pivotally connected to the other of the seat back or the seat member and is configured to receive a portion of the rod for linear movement relative thereto. The mechanism includes a split nut assembly engaging the rod which is movable between a first position inhibiting linear movement of the rod and a second position permitting linear movement of the rod. A clamp assembly having a passage for encasing the split nut assembly is provided and which has at least one pivotable lock clamp member adapted to reduce the cross-section of the passage when pivoted in a first direction and to enlarge the cross-section when pivoted in a second direction. The clamp assembly includes an actuation device for pivoting the lock clamp member in the second direction to move the split nut assembly from the first position to the second position.

6601921 - Seatback latch release mechanism with safety capture - Owned by Fisher Dynamics Corporation (St. Clair Shores, MI)

A seatback latch release mechanism includes a latch plate fixed for rotation with a rotatable member, a first pin extending from the latch plate, a cam plate pivotally supported by a support plate and including a cam edge in selective sliding contact with the first pin and a second pin extending from the cam plate and in selective sliding contact with an edge of the latch plate. The cam plate is rotatable through a first range in which the first pin slidably engages the cam edge to provide a first torque for rotating the latch plate and the member from a first position. Further rotation of the cam plate transitions to a second range in which the first pin disengages the cam edge and the second pin slidably engages the edge of the latch plate to provide a second torque for rotating the latch plate and the member to a second position.

4874205 - Recliner assembly for vehicle seat - Owned by Semec, Inc. (Troy, MI)

A dual sided recliner assembly which minimizes interference and wear of the teeth of the engaging parts while providing a compact and enclosed construction for longer service life. The backrest of the seat is secured between opposed moving plates, each one including a recessed area having two arcuate slots and an arcuate rack along one of the edges within the recessed area. The width of the opening provided in one of the slots is uniform whereas the width of the opening within the other slot is irregular such that a portion of its length is wider than the other portion. The moving plate is rotatably supported on a stationary plate and a coil power spring biases the moving plate toward a fully reclined forward position. The stationary plate also includes a recessed area which is opposed to the recessed area in the moving plate when the plates are assembled. A pawl is contained between the recesses of the plates for movement therein. The pawl is moved into engagement with the rack by a cam that is mounted on a spring biased camshaft. When the handle is rotated, the pawl is released from the rack thereby permitting automatic movement of the backrest toward a fully reclined forward position. During this movement, the narrow portion of the irregularly shaped slot moves into engagement with the camshaft thereby causing translational movement of the camshaft for maintaining a spaced relation between the pawl and rack until the backrest is returned to its upright position.

5222410 - Steering column assembly - Owned by Fuji Kiko Co., Ltd. (JP)

In a tilt steering column assembly, there is provided a tilt lock mechanism comprising upper and lower toothed bars which extend along the column assembly, and which are formed with rack-like teeth, and pivotally supported by upper and lower steering columns, respectively. The bars are both placed between two side walls of a lock member having inclined cam slots which move the bars into and out of engagement. The toothed bars engaged with each other to lock the tilt steering column assembly securely in a selected tilt position.

7080879 - Bicycle seat clamp

A bicycle seat clamp arrangement including a bicycle seat having a mounting beam extending lengthwise on an underneath side of the bicycle seat and defining a first surface. A clamp assembly is configured to apply a clamping force to the mounting beam and defines a second surface. The first and second surfaces are configured to interlock in order to inhibit relative fore and aft movement of the bicycle seat and the clamp arrangement. In one arrangement, the surfaces comprise a plurality of interlocking gear teeth. In another arrangement, the surfaces comprise a corresponding plurality of projections and depressions. The first and second surfaces may cooperate to form a wedge configuration to inhibit rocking of the bicycle seat relative to the clamp assembly.
