4682148 - Display pager having memory overflow indication and concurrent message display functions - Owned by NEC Corporation (Tokyo,JP)

A radio paging receiver for receiving a carrier wave modulated paging signal which includes a preamble, an address code and a message, is composed of at least a receiver section, a waveform shaping circuit, a memory section, a control section, a speaker with driving sectionto sound an alert signal and a display section. The memory section stores a predetermined number of received messages, which are counted as they are received by a counter in the control section. The display section under the control of the control section, produces a three part display, the first part being an indication of the age of the displayed message relative to the other messages stored in memory, the second part the call type, when a dual call service is implemented, and the last part one of the messages stored in memory. If a message is being displayed as a new message is received, the previous message continues to be displayed, while the new message is stored in memory if memory space is available. In addition, the receiver operates to change the first part of the display to inform the subscriber that a new message has been received.

6157814 - Wireless subscriber unit and method for presenting advertisements as a message indicator - Owned by Motorola, Inc. (Schaumburg, IL)

A wireless subscriber unit (30) contains an advertisement manager (56). The advertisement manager (56) is programmed to assign an advertisement icon (54) to a message indicator (46) on the display (42) of the wireless subscriber unit (30). Assignment of the advertisement icon (54) to the message indicator (46) associated with a message (26) may be based on a predetermined algorithm in the advertisement manager (56), or based on a notification received from the wireless communication system (10).

4477808 - Radio paging receiver having stored message protection means - Owned by Nippon Electric Co., Ltd. (Tokyo,JP)

A radio paging receiver is provided in which messages are continuously written into a first memory for subsequent display. A second memory is used to selectively prevent the erasure of messages written into the first memory when the first memory capacity has been exceeded.

4477807 - Radio pager with display device - Owned by Nippon Electric Co., Ltd. (Tokyo,JP)

A radio pager receives a signal having a selective calling signal portion and message signal portion and examines the selective calling portion of the signal for its own ID code. Upon detecting a match, an alert signal is provided and the message signal portion is stored in a memory if it does not match any of the message signals already stored. A counter also keeps track of the number of stored messages. The messages can be sequentially displayed when desired.

4994797 - Method and system for user controlled page disposition - Owned by Motorola, Inc. (Schaumburg, IL)

Calls entered into a paging system are processed by a controller which identifies the call source from which the call originates, and from a table of predetermined call sources the controller generates a source tag identifying the call source. The source tag is transmitted together with any caller generated message to a paging receiver. The paging receiver, upon receiving the source tag, selects a predetermined message from a table of predetermined messages, and displays the predetermined message stored within and displays the predetermined message together with the caller generated message. The tables of predetermined call sources and predetermined messages are definable by the paging receiver user.
