The action and barrel of a rifle are mounted to the stock so that the barrel is closely spaced from the front end grip portion of the stock. A rigid insert is fit into an opening through the stock and securely attached to the stock. The action is securely attached to the insert so that the barrel extends along the grip end portion of the stock without making actual contact with the stock. The rifle has greatly improved accuracy inasmuch as the barrel is not subjected to stress and strain due to atmospheric conditions affecting the portion of the stock which cradles the barrel of the rifle.
A projectile firing weapon is disclosed having a simplified construction and a consequent increase in reliability. The trigger and firing mechanism are completely contained within an easily removable and replaceable cassette which may simply be dropped into a cavity in the weapon's stock. The entire barrel assembly may be attached to the stock by a single bolt and a pivoting attachment. The pivoting attachment allows the ready replacement of the barrel assembly or the ready replacement of the firing mechanism actuator cassette should either of them malfunction. The stock and hand grip may be formed of a single piece to further simplify the construction of the weapon.
A lightweight weapon housing system is disclosed for a self-loading firearm. The weapon housing includes an outer and an inner housing. A wall structure in the weapon housing reinforces the magazine chamber and transmits the transverse forces arising in the magazine into an inner housing, which suffers any resulting deformation and which can be exchanged in a simple manner should deformation result.
A position and image inputting unit in accordance with the present invention is a unit in which both the position inputting function and the image inputting function are incorporated in a packing case. The unit may be used for inputting the position data, as in a mouse in the prior art, when the user presses the packing case lightly. For inputting an image, the packing case is to be pressed harder, and the packing case is moved in the direction perpendicular to the scanning direction of the image scanner. To facilitate the motion, there is provided a guiding roller so that when the packing case is pressed hard, the case moves in a fixed direction only. Furthermore, in this state, through the operation of the image scanner, the image data is scanned and input in succession in the direction perpendicular to the direction of motion of the packing case.
A solid, single-pour synthetic weapon stock comprises polyurethane and an equal amount by volume of a spacing material of silica-alumina ceramic microspheres blended into the polyurethane. For additional strength, a U-shaped bar having spaced apart bores is disposed within the weapon stock. A process for manufacturing the polyurethane weapon stock, comprises the steps of blending polyurethane with the spacing material to form a polyurethane reactant, placing the U-shaped bar into a mold having a void of a shape of the weapon stock, pouring the polyurethane reactant into the void and allowing the polyurethane reactant to react to form a polyurethane object having the shape of the void, curing the polyurethane object and removing the polyurethane object from the mold.
A firearm assembly includes a stock and an action secured to the stock. The action includes a receiver, a barrel, and a recoil lug that is positionable adjacent a bearing seat of the stock. Various fastener assemblies are provided to assemble the action to the stock with the recoil lug firmly seated against the bearing seat, thus providing longitudinal and torsional stability to the firearm assembly. There is further provided a stock having a bedding portion that includes a surface forming a channel in the bedding block. Either the channel or the receiver includes a number of ribs extending therefrom that support the receiver in the bedding channel when the action is secured to the stock. There is also provided a stock having an action mounting insert. A compressible member is provided between the action mounting insert and the stock.
