Abstract
A hair-enhancing cap including netting comprised of a tough wire-like elastic synthetic material and including an outer member, a plurality of supporting members secured to the outer member and a plurality of inner members secured between the outer member and the supporting members. The netting of the cap defines a plurality of openings in the cap and includes an elastic fastener secured to the outer member which holds the outer member under tension. The cap also includes natural or synthetic hair secured to the netting of the cap. The cap is positioned on the head over the existing hair and conforms to the natural contour of the head being held in place by the tension in the outer member. The existing hair is drawn through the openings defined by the netting of the cap and combined with the hair secured to the netting thereby obscuring the netting from sight beneath the combination of the existing hair and the hair secured to the netting. The hair secured to the netting, being generally of a different color than the existing hair, creates a frosting effect within the existing hair.

5117846 - Hairpiece and fitting method therefor - Owned by Hairline Creations, Inc. (Chicago, IL)

A hairpiece construction includes a reticulate foundation sheet member having a mesh structure of generally regular mesh openings and a generally domed configuration adapted to the contour of a wearer's scalp and head. The reticulate foundation sheet member also includes a plurality of through apertures with effective diameters larger than the mesh openings in order to enable manipulated feeding of the wearer's own hair strands through the respective apertures during the fitting operation. The apertures are distributed in a spaced arrangement so that even limited amounts and pattern of the wearer's own hair can be fed through the apertures and thereby contribute to the anchoring and stability of the foundation and hairpiece. The hair strands of the hairpiece are secured directly to the reticulate foundation.

4576189 - Partial wig assembly with extension portion

This invention relates to a wig or hairpiece, and more particularly, to a wig having a central opening therethrough with wig portions having hair which is adapted to be intermingled with the natural hair of a wearer to supplement it in those areas which ordinarily require treatment for more sophisticated hair stylings. A foundation having a substantially elliptical configuration is structured to fit in overlying relation adjacent a frontal portion of the head of the wearer and an extension portion formed of porous, light, flexible material structured for ventilation of the scalp therethrough extends rearwardly of the foundation into the central opening to add additional body to the natural styling of hair and versatility by providing additional hair capable of extending over a greater portion of the natural hair of the wearer.

6105584 - Size adjustable hair-enhancing cap

An adjustable hairpiece includes a flexible perimeter member for fitting around the head of a wearer; a hair mounting structure; a draw member extending across at least one point on the perimeter member; a draw string member fastener for securing the draw member to the flexible perimeter member at any one of several longitudinally distributed points along the draw member; and several hairlike strands connected to the hair mounting structure. The hairpiece preferably additionally includes first and second laterally spaced apart guide lines connected to and extending between two spaced apart points on the perimeter member, where the draw string member includes a first draw string line wrapping around the first and second guide lines in a spiral fashion in one direction.

5406971 - Hair replacement device and method of construction - Owned by Taylor Topper, Inc. (Millbrae, CA)

A hair replacement device is constructed from hollow, polyurethane tubing reinforced with copper wire to prevent stretching and to allow the device to be molded, and re-molded, to conform to the contours of the scalp. The copper wire is coated with a flesh color substance. The device defines a peripheral segment and longitudinal and lateral tubing intertwined and glued at intersecting areas to form a generally basket shaped device. Hair is conventionally attached to the plastic tubing, and a skin panel insert may be added where desired. The hair of an individual may be draw through the open framework and blended with the hair attached to the device.

6257244 - Uniformly size adjustable hair-enhancing cap and methods of manufacture and of custom fitting

An adjustable hairpiece includes a hairpiece network with a flexible perimeter member having network ports, for fitting around the head of a wearer, the perimeter member having a forward segment and two side segments; two longitudinal guide lines each having network ports, the longitudinal guide lines having guide line forward ends secured to the forward segment and extending rearwardly, the longitudinal guide lines being laterally spaced apart from each other and defining a hairpiece top region and two hairpiece side regions; a flexible network draw line having a draw line middle segment located substantially between the longitudinal guide lines and dividing the network draw line into two draw line half segments, each half segment extending from the draw line middle segment across the top region forwardly and rearwardly in a spaced and repeating spiral crossing sequence while spiraling through ports alternately in the forward segment and in the given longitudinal guide line on the corresponding side of the hairpiece, and then each guide line half segment repeatedly crossing the corresponding side region in a spaced and repeating spiral crossing sequence through ports in the corresponding side segment and in the corresponding longitudinal guide line, the draw line half segments each terminating in a half segment free end; and a quantity of hair strands for securing to the hairpiece network; so that pulling the half segment free ends away from the network causes the draw line to contract the hairpiece against a wearer scalp.
