Abstract
A firm V-shaped saddle is supported from its narrow end by a hip rest having a force disbursion plate thereon of larger surface area than the narrow end of the saddle. Straps from the opposite, wide end of the saddle are connected to rings at the top of the hip rest, and the entire saddle and hip rest are then suspended from the rings by cross-body straps that lead to a shoulder cup having an over-the-shoulder band and an around-the-shoulder band with a central opening receiving the point of the shoulder. The saddle maintains its firmness due to a stiff inner frame of metal or the like with a flexible outer edge angling upwardly and outwardly to retain the infant on the saddle.

6182873 - Infant carrier

An infant side carrier with a flexible seat (12) that is surrounded by a soft adjustable frame (74,76) made from conventional safety strap material. The seat's high back, wrap around sides and extended leg openings fully support the infant's torso, hips and thighs. The adjustable frame allows the adult to adjust the shoulder strap separately from the seat. The seat can be adjusted to tailor fit each individual infant. The infant's weight is distributed across a large surface area on the adult's body. The carrier attaches to the adult's body with a wide waist belt (13) and a shoulder strap with a padded shoulder wrap (60). The wide waist belt is joined to the seat at the underside of the belt, creating a seat that does not come between the adult and the infant. The padded shoulder wrap (60) has an elliptical peripheral configuration that utilizes the clavicle bone, shoulder joint and upper portion of the humerus bone. The padded shoulder wrap reduces shoulder discomfort while allowing the arm to move freely. The shoulder strap can also be modified for use for apparatus (10) or to transport moderately heavy loads such as luggage, athletic equipment, computer equipment, etc.

4750653 - Hip-sling baby carrier with leg warmers - Owned by Toddler Crafts Corp. (Buckley, WA)

An improved hip sling baby or doll carrier comprising: a trough-shaped seat having a forward seat portion extending laterally between opposed seat ends and upwardly from a bottom fold of the seat to a front edge of the seat, a rearward seat portion extending laterally between said opposed seat ends and upwardly between the bottom fold and a top fold, and two leg holes extending through the seat, each hole being centered near the bottom fold; a carrier back extending from the top fold adjacent the rearward seat portion to a back edge, and terminating at either end at a back support point which is strongly anchored to an adjacent seat end near the bottom fold of the seat, said back support points tensioning the back edge to provide support for the baby's back; and a strap assembly having two straps, each attached at one end to a respective seat end, and a strap connecting means for connecting opposite free ends of the straps to each other, said strap connecting means comprising a length-adjustable, child-safe buckle. A substantially cylindrical fabric leg warmer is easily attached to and detached from the carrier adjacent a leg opening in said carrier, said leg warmer comprising grow tucks allowing the leg warmer to be lengthened to accommodate the growing legs of the child, and growth display means in the grow tucks providing an attractive and decorative indicator of the child's growth.

6378937 - Retractable infant-seat shoulder strap

An apparatus for the assisted portage of automobile types of infant-seats separate from an automobile includes a coiled holder with an extensible strap that is attached to one side of the infant-seat and a screw-eye that is attached to the other side. The extensible strap includes a first end with a fastening device such as a spring clip that is attached to the screw-eye when the strap is extended out of the coiled holder and over the shoulder of a user. The extensible strap is set to any desired length and is locked at that position by the coiled holder or it is automatically retracted therein depending upon the position of a locking toggle on the coiled holder. Preferably, the coiled holder is attached to one side of a handle of the infant-seat at a pivot axis for the handle and the screw-eye is attached to the opposite side. The pivot axis is disposed proximate the center of gravity and therefore optimally supports the infant-seat. When it is draped over the shoulder and locked in position, the extensible strap is used as a shoulder strap to assist in supporting some of the weight of the infant-seat.

5203482 - Shoulder strap

An adjustable carrying strap for luggage or similar moderately heavy loads comprises a middle section of thin pliable material that can spread over and around the shoulder, thus to conform to the shape of the shoulder, distribute the load, and securely position the strap. The middle section of pliable material is folded and attached to the end sections, comprising conventional adjustable strap assemblies, so that when pulled taught, the middle section of the strap folds itself into a width comparable to that of the end section strap material, thus to be used as a simple shoulder strap.
