6385325 - Headphone device - Owned by Sony Corporation (Tokyo,JP)

A headphone device includes first and second head band members, a first fulcrum portion for pivotally supporting top ends of the first and second head band members so that the lower ends of the first and second head band members are moved towards and away from each other, first and second speaker unit supporting members carrying first and second speaker units, and second and third fulcrum portions for pivotally supporting the respective ends of the first and second speaker unit supporting members for rotation towards the lower ends of the first and second head band members. The center axes of rotation of the second and third fulcrum portions extend in a direction substantially perpendicular to the center axis of rotation of the first fulcrum portion. The headphone device also includes ear support portions provided on the first and second speaker unit supporting members that are retained between the head and the auricles of the user when the user attaches the headphone device to the head.

4499593 - Modular stereo headphones

Replaceable snap-together wires, headphones, headband and plug comprise a modular stereo headphone apparatus. Sealed headphones are provided with walled receptacles to receive mating removable clips secured to the ends of connecting wires. Each clip is molded to the wire insulation and around the wire ends which protrude slightly beyond the clip. Each clip is provided with a protruding movable lever arm with an indent for mating with a protrusion inside a receptacle shaped to fit the clip. Wires from the sound system within each headphone protrude through each receptacle wall to mate in proper polarity with wires in the inserted clip. A flexible headband is provided along its length with either a groove or tabs to receive a headphone connecting wire removably secured to the headband. At each headband end a sleeve receives a protrusion from one headphone adjustably secured to the headband with a spring-loaded pin in the sleeve engaging notches in the headphone protrusion. A male plug for the sound system has an adapter with one or two receptacles for receiving one or two clip ended wires from one or two headphone sets.

4571746 - Collapsible headband

A headband comprises first and second headbands having their one ends pivotally interconnected and being foldable about their pivotal interconnection inwardly and outwardly in a single plane and having opposite ends with an earpiece carried thereby. Each of the headbands include at least three separate parts telescopically interengageable and which are of substantially equal lengths. Advantageously the central part may be made of plastic and includes a tubular portion into which the next adjacent part is telescopical. The tubular portions are advantageously provided at each end of the central part to permit a telescopic movement of each of the other parts into the middle part.

7292703 - Headphones - Owned by Sennheiser Electronic GmbH & Co. KG (Wedemark,DE)

According to the invention a headphone set comprises a hoop band, to each of the two ends of which is fixed a respective acoustic transducer and which extends accurately in a plane, with at least one joint for folding the ends of the hoop band inwardly in the plane and an elastic region for resiliently expanding and narrowing the hoop band is either characterized in that the fixing of each of the transducers to the ends of the hoop band has a joint for pivoting the transducers into the plane and that arranged in the region of the two ends of the hoop band is a respective connecting structure which can be connected to each other and which then in co-operating relationship hold the folded-in ends of the hoop band in a crossed position or that the one joint for folding the ends of the hoop band inwardly is arranged at the apex of the hoop band, that the headphone set is of mirror image symmetry about a plane and that the fixing of each of the transducers to the ends of the hoop band has a joint for pivoting the transducers into the plane of symmetry which is at a right angle to the plane of the hoop band.

6233345 - Personal earphone assembly for mounting upon eyeglasses

This is a personal earphone assembly comprised of a flexible, elongate tube having open ends and a central lumen therethrough. Earphones are disposed at each open end of the tube, each earphone having a neck projecting therefrom and a wire passing from the neck, through the lumen, to a central aperture in the tube. In a stereophonic embodiment, the earphone wires run parallel from the central lateral aperture to a plug adapted to engage a stereo jack on a signal source. In a monaural embodiment, the earphone wires join a single double-strand lead to a mono jack. Lateral slits are provided adjacent the open ends of the tube for receipt of the temple ends of a pair of eyeglasses. The portions of the tube between the lateral apertures and the open ends wrap over and around the forward portions of a user's ear, and the earphones lodge in the outer ear canal. The assembly may also be worn without eyeglasses. In an alternative embodiment, a bead slidingly mounted on a doubled portion of the tube allows adjustment for a snug fit.
