A novel motion simulation device adaptable as a training, amusement or playground device is provided which comprises a support structure pivotally attached at one end to an overhead suspension, and supporting, near the other end, a passenger carrying body; a resiliently extensible tether connected at one end to the support structure near the passenger carrying body, and at the other end to a substantially fixed point below the point of suspension, to limit and define the pattern of swinging motion of the structure; a spring operatively interconnecting the support structure and suspension to provide simulated bobbing motion for the device; and braking structure, utilizing the tether, for stopping the device. Certain optional embellishments may be included to limit motion of the device to selected degrees of freedom.
The present invention is an improved facility for training personnel for aircraft carrier flight operations. The invention provides a solution to problems caused by flight training operations in populated areas. The invention provides an aircraft carrier simulator that includes a land-based full scale flight deck. The simulator includes apparatus for moving the deck to simulate the motion of a carrier in the ocean. The deck may be moved up and down and rotated to simulate the pitching and rolling motion of a carrier floating in the ocean. The deck may also be rotated 360.degree. about its vertical centerline so that flight operations may be conducted at any desired angle to the wind. The simulator is capable of providing all training for pilots and aircraft crews and deck training for fire, crash, battle station, flight mechanics, flight, R&D AIMD, fuel and LOX crews. The simulator also can provide training for ship crew personnel for radio communications, radar, guidance, ordnance, engineers, mess, command and control, and surgical and medical teams.
The invention relates to an installation for controlling a gravitational or forced motion, notably for the simulation of a parachute jump. The installation includes removable load catching means (7) on a mobile support (6) and programmed means arranged for controlling in time the descending motion of said mobile support (6) according to a pre-established trajectory and/or law of motion.
A recreational swing used as a children's toy which incorporates a pronounced bouncing action along with the pendulum motion of a traditional swing. The bouncing swing utilizes an extension device enclosed in and attached to a rigid tube which is fastened to the swing seat. The weight of the child extends the device which gently rebounds as the child swings. The tubular sleeve protects the child from the action of the extension device and also acts as a handle. The swing is suspended by a rope, chain, or cable from an overhead support.
A child's suspended merry-go-round preferably includes a vertical pole member, a seat member, tension members to attach the seat member to a bearing attached to the vertical pole member, back supports, and a hand wheel on the pole member. A child seated on the seat member suspended from the pole by flexible tension members connected to the pole may be rotated on the merry-go-round.
The pedal driven swivel toy provides a ride for children which includes a combination of translation and rotation. The toy is suspended from a support structure allowing swinging and rotating motion. A wheel contacting the ground and driven by the child through the use of pedals forces the center of gravity of the toy from a stable rest position to an unstable position thereby inducing rotation and swinging of the toy. The combination of motion is exhilarating for the child and the use of pedals provides exercise for the child while allowing control of operation of the toy.
