A toy locomotive includes a locomotive body and a planar track member. The locomotive body comprises a clockwork driving mechanism with a knurled knob, a small bogie and a pinion mounted to an outshaft of the driving mechanism, a crown gear meshing with the pinion, a drive and an auxiliary wheels suspended on the bogie and one or more guide pin also extended from the bogie. The planar track member comprises an endless groove for engaging with the guide pin. The track member may be one of a number of planar track members, such as pages connected together in the manner of a book.
A windup spring drive unit improving the operability of winding when incorporated in an apparatus such as a toy, and increasing a degree of freedom in design. The windup spring drive unit comprises: a spring 2 as a power source; a windup shaft 3 which manually winds up the spring 2; an output shaft 4; and a gear train 5 which transmits the power of the spring 2 to the output shaft 4, these members being accommodated in a casing 6. A crown gear 8 is included in the gear train 5, the crown gear 8 has its center of rotation axis being arranged in parallel with the windup shaft 3. The output shaft 4 and the windup shaft 3 are arranged to be orthogonal to each other, and the windup shaft 3 is provided to pierce in a thin direction t of the casing 6.
An interactive book having at least one page which has a track formed on the page wherein the page is further provided with a pop-up bridge having a track thereon, the pop up bridge being formed from a sheet attached to the page and adapted to fold substantially two-dimensionally when the book is in a closed position and to extend three-dimensionally when the book is in an open position, wherein the tack on the bridge cooperates with the track formed on the page such that a toy figure may be continuously moved from the track on page to the track on the pop up bridge and back to the page.
A vehicle levitation and guidance system (20) is provided which levitates a vehicle (22) over a roadbed (28) through the use of thin permanently magnetized strips (32, 34) located in the vehicle and the roadbed. The strips are oriented with like magnetic poles adjacent to generate a repelling force. The vehicle is guided along the roadbed by sliding engagement of the walls (37) of a channel (30) in the roadbed with pins (36) descending from the vehicle. The vehicle is propelled along the roadbed by contact with a set of rotating wheels (42, 42').
A toy vehicle and track system that allows a vehicle to operate along a single track length by performing U-turns at each end of the track length. When multiple track lengths are attached together, U-turn stoppers are retracted so that the vehicle travels along the entire track assembly and performs U-turns at the ends of the track assembly. Additionally, when multiple track lengths are attached in a loop formation, all the U-turn stoppers are retracted so that the vehicle travels in a continuous circular-like path. A control system is also provided that allows a rear vehicle to initiate operation of a front vehicle.
An interactive book comprising at least one page comprising a track formed on said page, said page further comprising a fold out portion, said fold out portion comprising a track disposed thereon, whereby the tracks on said page and fold out portion cooperate to provide increased trackage area, a toy or figure wherein the toy or figure is movably engable on said track to move continuously from said page to said fold out portion.
