This invention relates to a thermoplastic closure having a top wall and an annular sidewall downwardly depending therefrom. By way of an annular frangible area, there is an annular tamper-indicating band connected to the lowermost extent of the closure annular sidewall. The annular tamper-indicating band has an annular upper portion which depends downwardly from the annular frangible area. The band additionally has an annular lower portion which comprises a plurality of spaced-apart tabs, each tab connected to its neighboring tab by way of a flexible web. Each of the tabs has an outwardly extending projection at its lowermost extent. These projections each provide a surface which will be placed in a position of interference with a container annular flange when the tabs are bent inwardly and upwardly and the closure is fitted to the container. The annular upper portion is connected to the annular lower portion by way of an annular hinge.
A sealing cap, for use on the valve of a barrel having an opening with a collar and a valve sealing plate, is made of plastics and is of the type which is damaged during opening. The cap comprises a cover plate and a cylindrical guide. Locking elements are disposed on an inner side of said cylindrical guide, and, in use, engage resiliently under the collar such that the valve sealing plate covers said locking elements at the top, and said cylindrical guide covers said locking elements towards the outside. Narrow radially aligned webs are provided on one part of said cover plate, which webs frangibly connect said cover plate and said cylindrical guide.
This relates to a plastic fitment to be utilized in conjunction with a conventional metal closure having a rotational engagement with threads on a container neck finish. The fitment has a readily engageable snap-in interlock with the closure and is provided with a tamper indicating band attached to a ring thereof by rupturable bridges. When the closure and fitment are applied to a container, the tamper indicating band will ride over and lock behind a projecting rib on the closure neck finish. When the closure is to be removed, as it moves axially the bridges will rupture leaving the tamper indicating band on the container while the ring of the fitment is removed with the closure. If desired, a customer may remove the ring from the closure and reseal the container with the closure per se.
A tamper-indicating closure and package comprising a one-piece molded closure of plastic which threads onto a container such that when the closure is unthreaded, a tamper-indicating band becomes separated from the lower end of the closure skirt. The tamper-indicating band is joined to the closure along a weakened frangible line. A flexible annular wall is formed within the band and extends inwardly and upwardly when the closure is applied to container finish. The band further includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced flexible walls extending circumferentially and fastened at their circumferential ends to the inner surface of the annular wall and having portions intermediate their ends which extend radially inwardly. When the closure is applied to the container, the intermediate portions of the circumferentially extending walls are flexed radially outwardly intermediate their ends over the annular bead on the container and then flex radially inwardly beneath the annular bead while the annular wall is interposed between the skirt of the closure and the annular bead on the container. When the closure is unthreaded, the upper edges of the circumferentially spaced circumferential walls engage the underside of the bead and cause the band to sever along the weakened line.
A tamper-indicating closure and package and method of making comprising a one-piece molded closure of plastic which threads onto a container such that when the closure is unthreaded, a tamper-indicating band becomes separated from the lower end of the closure skirt. The tamper-indicating band is joined to the closure along a weakened frangible line. A flexible wall is formed within the band and extends axially toward the base of the closure. The wall has a free edge which has circumferentially flexible spaced flexible wall portions defining pleats or scallops that extend radially inwardly. When the closure is applied to the container, the circumferentially extending wall portions flex radially outwardly over the annular bead on the container and then radially inwardly beneath the annular bead. When the closure is unthreaded, the upper edges of the circumferentially spaced circumferential wall portions engage the underside of the bead and cause the band to sever along the weakened line. The closure is first formed with a portion which extends axially from the closure skirt and this portion is scored to form the weakened line, rolled to form an indentation defining a hinge, pleated to form the circumferentially spaced flexible wall portions and then folded inwardly about the hinge toward the base of the closure.
A child-resistant, tamper-evident closure having nested inner and outer caps with ratchet teeth on the interfacing skirt walls of the respective caps to cooperate to fasten the closure onto the container, and ratchet teeth on the interfacing top walls of the respective caps for removal of the closure upon simultaneous application of torque and a downward force. The inner cap further includes a tamper-indicating ring depending from the lower edge of its skirt, the ring including a breakable connection for detachably securing the lower portion thereof to the inner cap skirt. A plurality of tabs extending upwardly and radially inwardly from the ring engage an annular shoulder on the container during the removal of the closure to break the ring away from the inner cap skirt.
