Abstract
An activity toy with which a child may create needle craft like textured designs using plastic or amorphous solid substances. In order to simulate the strands or nubs that create the textured design in neddle crafts a stand supported on a surface holds a screen having mesh spaces extending between the opposed sides of the screen. The stands hold the screen spaced from the surface with one side of the screen facing the child. An extruder for the plastic substance is positioned adjacent the side of the screen away from the child and moved under the screen to force the substance through the mesh spaces to create the needle craft like texture. The extrusion opening is a larger than the mesh spaces so that a mat or backing retains the textured design on the screen. To facilitate the creation of aesthetically pleasing designs, preprinted patterns or outlines are provided on the screen.

5242496 - Spinning platen paint set - Owned by Mattel, Inc. (El Segundo, CA)

A spinning platen paint set includes a support housing within which a platen is rotatably supported. A push rod operated drive mechanism is coupled to the rotatably supported platen to provide rapid spinning thereof. A curved shroud encloses a portion of the rotating platen while providing access to a paint medium supported upon the rotating platen. A paint mixing stand is supported by the housing within a recessed well and is configured to support a mixing bottle together with a plurality of bottle brush units in a manner permitting the transfer of the desired quantities of individual paints from the supported bottle brush units to the common mixing bottle.

7160098 - String hopper making machine

A string hopper making machine has a dough container removably mounted in a vertical manner in a frame. An extrusion piston is mounted on a vertical rod extending through a vertical guide channel formed in a guiding block mounted on the frame. The vertical rod is pivotally mounted to a front end of a lever arm which has a rear end pivotally mounted to a pivot arm of a pivot block rotatable relative to the frame. An elongated handle rod is mounted at a front end of the lever arm and is operative for pivoting the lever arm for moving the piston in an up and down vertical direction for mounting the dough container to the frame and for extruding the dough mixture from the dough container to form the string hopper.

4993932 - Clay dough toy extruder

The present invention is directed to a toy molder/extruder which is used for cold molding and/or cold extruding of clay dough with the use of toy molds and toy dies. This toy has a main housing with a base, an upright middle section and a top. A pinion gear is rotatably located at the top of the housing and a crank wheel and handle is connected to the pinion gear to enable the user to rotate the pinion gear. A ram piston with a rack gear is attached to the main housing with the ram piston being connected to the top of the housing in a vertically movable fashion, so as to engage the rack gear and the pinion gear with on another. The toy also has a compression chamber with an open top which is connected to the housing and located below the ram piston. It has a cross-sectional dimension adequate to allow ram insertion of the ram piston and has a tapered bottom with an outlet orifice substantially smaller than the compression chamber's open top. The toy also includes a clamping means connected to the housing and located below the compression chamber so as to hold a mold or die for receiving clay dough by ram action compression-injection.

5397521 - Method for fabricating a dimensionalized configuration

A method employing a new use for acrylic latex caulk materials in fabricating durable dimensionalized configurations and background surfaces under room temperature conditions, for transfer to artistic and craft-oriented, artistic exhibition surfaces, is disclosed. The method is facilitated by a multilayered work surface specifically adopted for use in practicing the method. The method of the disclosed invention provides a mathematical relationship between the water fluid and the caulk material utilized in the method. This relationship is utilized to introduce these two components to create a slurry and to set up a precuring stage where the caulk material remains malleable for long periods of time. This provides the opportunity to more completely shape and form the treated caulk material to a desired, dimensionalized configuration. The configuration fabricated by the method, and substantial use of the special work surface, later becomes hardened, durable over long periods of time and capable of being attached to other services for exhibition purposes.

5209663 - Craft paint system for forming fine designs - Owned by The Flagship Group, Inc. (Englewood, CO)

A craft art form and system including patterns, paint, and applicators enables craft paint to form three-dimensional color dot matrix patterns having high degree of visual resolution and color saturation. Precisely located and closely spaced circles containing a standard set of color symbols are used to form designs in patterns. Each symbol in the standard set of symbols of the present invention represents an artistic expression which is permanently assigned to a particular color. Each color symbol has a darkness value which corresponds to the darkness value of the assigned color. The craft paint has the characteristics of forming a discrete uniform, homogeneous, three-dimensional bead to overlay the color symbol placed on each circle. This special beading paint can form beads placed very closely together (36 to 81 beads per square inch) without running together, yet retain sufficient fluidity to settle into smooth, substantially rounded, uniform beads. A fine tip applicator applies the paint to the center of each circle. The paint is applied in a laminar fashion without turbulence so as to ensure the uniformity and homogeneity of each bead. The paint applicator is stored in an inverted position to minimize the formation of air bubbles in the craft paint.
