Two mutually exclusively operable tape measures mounted in a housing such that each tape is adapted to extend linearly from opposite ends of the housing. Each tape measure is adapted to engage a series of gears which, when engaged, turn a counter to total the distance to which the tapes are linearly extended from the housing. Only one of the two tapes may be engaged at one time. Upon the extension of either of the two tapes, the counter is actuated to register the total distance between the ends of the tapes.
A measuring device having two measuring tapes held on separate reels in a housing. The housing has two windows for displaying measurement indicia appearing on each tape. The tapes are spring biased toward the fully wound condition. Each tape has a button controlled clutch locking each respective tape in an extended condition. In a preferred application, a user draws a first tape around her torso just below the breasts, connects the tape to the end of the second tape at the housing, and locks this tape when taut. The device is moved upwardly, now encircling the breasts also, and the second tape is extended to accommodate the additional girth. The second clutch locks the second tape in position. The device is removed from the user's body, and sizes displayed in the windows are read. The first tape measures and indicates rib cage girth, and the second tape converts the additional measurement to cup sizes. The windows expose only the relevant data from each respective tape, maintaining the data visible while the tapes are locked in the extended condition. When the clutches are released, both reels rewind.
A retractable tape measure includes a cover, a base and a calibrated tape. The internal configuration of the retractable tape measure allows a much longer calibrated tape to be used than a conventional measuring tape.

A digital linear measuring device includes a housing, a reel located within a housing and a measuring tape wound on the reel. The measuring tape is extendable through an opening in the housing as the reel is rotated. An incremental measuring means is associated with the reel for generating incremental measuring data and an absolute measuring means cooperates with the measuring tape for generating absolute measurement data as the measuring tape is extended. A processing unit is responsive to both the incremental measurement data and to the absolute measurement data for generating output reflecting linear extension of the measuring tape from the housing, and a display is responsive to the processing unit for displaying information reflecting the linear extension of the measuring tape from the housing.
A brassiere sizer includes a housing having a front, side, and rear walls. A first set of indicia is provided on the front wall and comprises length increments equally spaced apart and disposed in a circular array on the side wall and a second indicia is provided on the front wall and comprises brassiere cup size indicia equally spaced apart and in an arcuate array concentric with the first set of indicia. A dial mounted on the first member for rotation about a rotation axis concentric with the first set of indicia, and a third set of indicia is provided on the dial in a spaced apart circular array and denominating length increments and disposed adjacent to the first set of indicia. A window in the dial is positioned to be adjacent to the cup size indicia on the front housing face. First and second measurement tapes are mounted on the housing for sliding movement. The length measurement indicia on the first member corresponds to the length increment on the first tape and the length measurement indicia on the second member corresponds to the length measurement indicia on the second tape.
