A blank for forming a tray having a bottom wall panel and a pair of side wall panels extending therefrom and foldable relative thereto, with each side wall panel having a side flap extending therefrom. A pair of end panels extend from the bottom wall panel and are foldable relative thereto with the end panels each having an end flap extending therefrom. The end flap is connected to the end wall panel by a tearable fold line to permit the end flap to be removed therefrom. A transparent cover assembly made of plastic extends over the tray and is adhered to the side flanges and the end flaps. The side flaps and the end flaps are then folded down against the side walls and the end walls of the tray and adhered thereto. An end flap is then lifted and when pulled up, the transparent cover assembly will sever easily to permit access to the contents of the package.
A system and method for packaging devices having one or more coils of delicate tubing utilizing a peel-pouch package with a backing surface and a transparent cover sealingly adhered to form an envelope wherein the device and the coils of tubing are packaged. The packaging system provides for a single releasable interconnecting coil restraint that effectively binds the coils of tubing together such that any one particular coil is restrained from moving. The restraint has an end tab facilitating the release of the restraint such that the packaged coils can be quickly and easily removed and placed into use. The restrained coils of tubing are placed within a lining sheath prior to being placed within the envelope through the envelope opening in order to further protect the packaged system by rendering the envelope puncture resistant. A heat stake is applied to the packaged envelope at an opposite end from the envelope opening to effectively reduce the volume within the envelope so as to limit the movement of the contents therein. With such a packaging system and method, the individual tubes of the coils do not bend or kink and the coils remains free from tangling and intertwining during the rough treatment normally incident to worldwide shipping and handling.
A storage container for catheters having a separable portion of the front wall detachable from the container to ease removal of the catheter from the container is disclosed. The top portion is preferably separated from the side walls along external score lines at the intersection of the front and side walls. The separable portion of the front wall is preferably hinged on the bottom edge, which is perforated, easing complete separation of the separable portion from the front wall. Internal score lines on the inside surface of the separable portion of the front wall, parallel and proximate the external score lines are preferably provided to form flaps when the top portion of the front wall is detached from the container. The flaps prevent the top of the catheter package from falling out of the container. The separable portion of the front wall enables the catheter to be easily removed from the storage container without it being damaged.
A clip device for holding flexible tubing in a coiled arrangement, where one end of the tubing is connected to an external device, such as an infusion pump. The clip has a bore formed through it at one end so that the clip may be slidably and permanently mounted on the flexible tubing. The clip also includes two C-shaped channels, one located at the bottom of the clip and the other along a side of the clip, that are sized to receive and frictionally engage the loops formed in the flexible tubing. The tubing is then coiled and firmly held in the coiled state by looping and engaging each loop in one of the C-shaped channels. The clip is capable of firmly holding the tubing in a coiled state, but the C-shaped channels are shaped and oriented on the clip such that when a user needs to use the flexible tubing, the user may pull on the free end of the flexible tubing whereby the loops are released from the C-shaped channels resulting in the uncoiling of the tubing. The tubing can also be quickly re-coiled and held by the clip in a coiled state again, ready for re-use.
A liner for lining a generally rectangular-bottomed container. First and second outer faces of the liner are connected together along opposed first and second edges and are separable from one another along a top edge extending between the first and second edges. An inwardly gusseted bottom face of the liner extends between opposed bottom portions of the first and second edges. First and second lines of weakness are spaced inwardly from the first and second edges and extend from the top edge, across the outer faces, into the inwardly gusseted bottom face.
