Abstract
A syringe comprises a body member detachably secured onto one end of a syringe barrel provided at its other end with a delivery tube and containing a movable piston member; a piston actuating assembly movably mounted in the body member and comprising a tube generally coaxial with the barrel and a rod movably mounted within the tube; and a pawl for moving said piston actuating assembly whereby the tube is first displaced to move the piston to the distal end of the barrel and the rod is then moved to pierce the central region of the piston member and to pass through the piston into the delivery tube.

6672489 - Discharging device for a caulking gun

A discharging device for a caulking gun with a ratchet push rod includes a body, a handle, a trigger, a pawl and a ratchet push rod. The ratchet push rod has a series of teeth and passes through the body from one end to the other. The pawl is pivotally mounted in the body to engage the ratchet push rod. Hence, the ratchet push rod moves forward when the trigger is pulled and moves slightly backward before the pawl engages the teeth when the trigger released. The backward movement reduces the residual pressure in the tube to prevent the discharge of caulking material in the tube when the discharging operation is halted.

5501374 - Device for extruding high viscosity fluid having multiple modes of operation - Owned by Vital Products, Co. (Cleveland, OH)

A device for extruding high viscosity fluids is described which has multiple modes of operation and provides a mechanism for relieving pressure being applied to fluid being extruded. The pressure release mechanism includes a first and second dog and a release arm that engages the second dog to result in the second dog disengaging the teeth of a drive rod attached to a piston for applying pressure to the fluid material to be extruded resulting in relief of the applied pressure by the drive rod and piston combination to stop the flow of the fluid from the nozzle of the device. The preferred device is a caulking gun.

5376079 - Dispensing device for dispensing at least two fluids

A dispensing device for dispensing at least two fluids comprises a housing (12,22) of a pistol-like configuration having an integral handle (50), in which a spring-biased trigger (60) is received. Within the housing (12,22) of the dispensing device (10), two syringes (80,81) are received and fixated, which syringes contain respective fluids to be accurately dispensed. Provided a cover (22) of the housing is closed, the motion of the trigger (60) relative to the handle (50) is transmitted to a toothed rack which cooperates with a propeller body (70) in a ratchet-like manner. The ratchet-like cooperation allows a uni-directional motion of the propeller body (70) and prevents a motion of the propeller body (70) in the opposite direction. Provided the cover (22) is not closed, the motion of the trigger (60) relative to the handle is not transmitted to the propeller body (70), and any unintentional dispensing of fluids from the dispensing device prior to the preparing of the dispensing device for use by closing the cover (22) is consequently prevented.

6780191 - Cannula system - Owned by Yacmur LLC (Jupiter, FL)

A surgical kit for inserting a biological material into a portion of the body by a minimally invasive technique has several components which are manually operated using a universal handle. The kit includes a docking needle used as a guide for placing a cannula in a body. The handle has a spring loaded hinged connection for temporarily attaching to the other components and which locks upon release of compression.
