A storage container for solid particulate materials includes a source of `lubrication` gas coupled to a fluidizer. The fluidizer particulate materials are carried from the container by a stream of transport gas. A deflector placed over the container outlet constrains the fluid flow in a substantially horizontal path to prevent the outlet becoming blocked by the solids when the gas flow is cut off. The proportions of particulate material can be varied by selectively varying the pressure in the container, where the container is a pressure vessel.
This application is a continuation of application Ser. No. 231,301, filed Feb. 3, 1981, for "Particulate Solid Storage Container and Transport Method", now abandoned.
An apparatus for the dosed incorporated of a dustlike substance into a carrier gas stream is described; said apparatus operates on the basis of a perforated disc which rotates in the dust, the passage holes of said disc are filled with the dust and are blown out in a blowing zone. Since a predetermined blowing pressure is maintained and owing to a suitable dimensioning and arrangement of the passage holes, a remarkable increase in the throughput of dust is achieved, compared with the prior known matter.
A conveyor comprises perforation bands arranged in the floor of a storage space. Some of the bands emit an air stream that in quantity or pressure differs from the air stream in the remaining bands and have apertures with a larger flow area than the apertures in the remaining bands. The larger apertures are provided: along with a first perforation band placed in the middle of a sector of the floor and extending across the entire sector; along one further band arranged on one side of the first band with a shorter extension than in the first band; and in portions of bands which portions are closest to the walls of the storage space.
An apparatus and method for splitting a mass of fluidizable powder into a plurality of powder streams and conveying the powder streams through a plurality of ducts. The apparatus comprises a powder splitter defining a chamber, a plurality of hollow ducts each having an entrance communicating with the chamber, and a gas source including a plurality of gas nozzles within the ducts and directed outwardly of the chamber. The gas nozzles propel gas jets into the ducts so that portions of the fluidizable powder are conveyed through the ducts. A particularly preferred apparatus is utilized for conveying a plurality of alumina powder streams to an aluminum electrolysis cell.
