Abstract
In an apparatus for cooling of cooling water trickler plates are arranged essentially in parallel. Along one side of each trickler plate water sprayed from the top trickles down, while the other side is kept dry. Thus a pair of adjacent trickler plates each forms a duct through which the cooling air flows. The trickler plates are provided with depressions in the wet side protruding from the dry side in order to increase the dry cooling effect with respect to the wet cooling effect.

5806584 - Heat exchanger with improved plates - Owned by Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique (Paris,FR)

Disclosed is a heat exchanger composed of corrugated plates, the facets (12) of which are provided with bosses (13) and hollows (14) in order to reduce pressure drops.

4758385 - Plate for evaporative heat exchanger and evaporative heat exchanger - Owned by Norsaire Systems (Denver, CO)

A plate for an evaporative heat exchanger is stamped from a laminate material comprising a thin sheet of light-weight, heat conductive, formable metal such as aluminum superimposed on and attached to a thin sheet of wicking material. Stamping the laminate material simultaneously cuts the plate into a substantially square, pre-determined size, forms a series of ribs and corresponding recesses into the plate and blanks square notches into each corner of the plate to define four edges. The ribs are spaced apart in a substantially parallel manner, appear substantially semicircular in configuration and extend longitudinally and substantially across the plate. A method to fabricate said plate is also described. A plurality of said plates is stacked in a serial relationship and attached along corresponding edges at opposite ends to form alternating air conditioning channels and evaporative cooling channels defined by metal surfaces and wicking material surfaces respectively whereby the conditioned air flows perpendicularly to the secondary air and water.

7445200 - Gas-liquid contactor baffle - Owned by AMT International, Inc. (Richardson, TX)

A gas-liquid contactor baffle includes a body having a first portion, a second portion and a middle portion, the middle portion being positioned between the first portion and the second portion. The middle portion is a corrugated sheet having a first face and a second face. The corrugated sheet has alternating ridges and open ended channels extending across each of the first face and the second face between the first portion and the second portion. The first portion has a first collection channel adapted to collect liquids from the open ended channels of the middle portion when flow is along the first face in a first direction. The second portion having a second collection channel adapted to collect liquids from the open ended channels of the middle portion when flow is along the second face in a second direction.
