A roof edge assembly includes a resilient member secured to the roof structure of a building. The resilient member has at least one sloping portion protruding upwardly and inwardly and serves to mount and support a fascia member on the edge of the roof structure. The assembly also functions to anchor the periphery of a sheet-like roofing material as well as acting as a gravel stop or barrier preventing water and other substances from falling off the edge of the roof.
A roofing system for a sloped roof having a base with a generally horizontal top surface and a generally vertical edge has an internal gutter in its lower margin. The system includes a first flashing, that is attached to the base, having a lip which projects from the top surface of the base. The base is covered with sheets of flexible, thermally weldable roofing material with the top margin of each sheet being attached to the base and the bottom margin overlapping and welded to the adjoining sheet. The lower margin of the lowest sheet overlies the lip of the first flashing to form the gutter. A second flashing, which conformingly overlies the first flashing, is attached to the base over the sheet to clamp the margin of the sheet against the edge of the base. The margin of the lowermost sheet is pulled progressively tauter over the lip of the first flashing at the sides of the roof than at the downspout to make the gutter slope downwardly towards the downspout. A tack strip of the roofing material is attached to the roof base adjacent to the edge at an angle such that it is progressively further from the edge extending away from the downspout. The lowermost sheet is thermally welded to the tack strip before it is pulled over the lip of the first flashing and the second flashing is installed, which causes it to automatically be biased to form the slope in the gutter.
A fascia for securing a rubber membrane against the surface of a roof, the fascia including a rigid planar plate portion adapted to be secured to the generally vertical edge portion of the roof and to clampingly engage a portion of the rubber membrane to secure the rubber membrane against the vertical surface, and a rigid flange projecting from the planar plate portion and including a lower surface adapted to engage a portion of the membrane supported by the surface of the roof adjacent the edge and to secure the membrane against the upper surface of the roof.
A roof edge fascia or coping cover having an aerodynamic exterior shape mainly comprising a lower face portion, an intermediate face portion, and a top face portion. The lower face portion is either generally vertical, or sloping or curving upwardly and outwardly, forming an angle within 60.degree. to the vertical outer wall surface of a building. The top face portion, of a substantial lateral size, is generally disposed within .+-.25.degree. from horizontal. The intermediate face portion, having at least one segment of a substantial lateral size sloping or curving upwardly and inwardly, connects the lower and top face portions. Slope changes at a junction between any two adjacent face portions, or adjacent segments thereof, are generally less than or equal to 50.degree.. Through controlling surface slope changes systematically, this invention ensures an aerodynamic roof edge configuration that effectively mitigate airflow separation from the building surface so as to suppress vortex formation and reduce adverse wind actions on a roof construction.
A flat roof cover system comprising a facia edge plate and a generally flat roof substructure which includes a nailable perimetral edge strip, and a waterproof rubber-like membrane cover of a length to extend beyond the edge strip. A rigid clip having a flat nailing portion is nailed to the upper face of the edge strip. The clip has a rigid inversely disposed V-shaped portion with a wall extending down along the building which terminates in a lock flange. A facia plate, having a like deformable resilient V-shaped portion terminating in a reversely turned edge bearing on said membrane edge and the clip plate gravel stop surface beneath it, has a latch socket to snap over said lock flange.
In accordance with the present invention, strips of a gutter decoration are piece-wise end-to-end (or seamlessly) attached to a gutter mounted to a building or structure to decoratively cover the gutter. The gutter decoration strip extends horizontally and cross sectionally comprises a first generally vertical section and a second section depending upwardly therefrom. The first vertical section includes a series or pattern of decorative features formed therein. The gutter decoration strip further includes means for attaching the strip to the gutter. Alternatively, the gutter decoration is attached below the gutter to either the fascia board or the gutter. In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, strips of a fascia decoration are piece-wise end-to-end attached to a fascia board of a building or structure to decoratively cover the fascia board. The fascia decoration strip has a generally elongated rectangular shape with a lower portion thereof including a series or pattern of decorative features formed therein. The fascia decoration strip further includes means for attaching the strip to the fascia board.
