Abstract
In a piezoelectric vibrator capable of vibrating under an expansion mode of vibration, which has a piezoelectric vibrating element including a generally rectangular vibrateable substrate, made of a metallic material having a constant modulus of elasticity. The substrate is supported by a retaining member through a pair of connecting elements which extend outwardly from an arbitrarily chosen pair of side edges, respectively, so as to terminate in rigid connection with the retaining member. The width of each of the connecting elements as measured in a direction lengthwise of each of said edges is selected to be within the range of 1/7 to 1/3 of the length of said each side edge.

4651042 - Piezoelectric vibrator and manufacturing method thereof - Owned by Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (JP)

A piezoelectric vibrator comprises a substrate consisting of Elinvar, in which a vibrating element is formed as an island. The vibrating element is connected to and supported by strip-like connecting portions which are connected with the surrounding frame. A piezoelectric film is formed on the surface of the vibrating element. Of the longitudinal end portions of the vibrating element in the vicinity of the connecting portions, one main surface side is formed as a thin-plate portion by etching, while the rest of the vibrating element has its thickness intact. The longitudinal edges of vibrating element are defined by etching carried out simultaneously with or after the previous etching step.

6092422 - Mechanical signal producer based on micromechanical oscillators and intelligent acoustic detectors and systems based thereon - Owned by International Business Machines Corporation (Armonk, NY)

The present invention concerns mechanical signal processing comprising a mechanical adder as a basic building block. Such a mechanical adder (40), which is a basic element of the present invention, comprises a first micromechanical member (40.1) being sensitive to a first frequency (f.sub.1) and a second micromechanical member (40.2) being sensitive to a second frequency (f.sub.2). The two micromechanical members (40.1, 40.2) are coupled via a linear coupling (41) to provide a superposition (sum) of the two frequencies (f.sub.1 and f.sub.2). Based on the adder, AND-gates and OR-gates can be realized by adding further micromechanical members and appropriate linear and non-linear coupling elements.

5449965 - Oscillator - Owned by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Osaka,JP)

An oscillator has a pair of upper and lower casing members in the form of plates, and a vibration plate pinched between the upper and lower casing members. A tongue-like vibrating portion is formed by forming a slit in the vibration plate inside an outer peripheral portion of the vibration plate pinched between the upper and lower casing members. Electrodes are formed on obverse and reverse surfaces of the vibrating portion.

5548179 - Chip-type piezoelectric resonance component - Owned by Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (JP)

In a chip-type piezoelectric resonance component, a piezo-resonator (3) is fixed onto a base substrate (2) and a cap member (4) is fixed to the base substrate (2) to enclose the piezo-resonator (3). The piezo-resonator (3) is provided with upper and lower surfaces having shorter and longer sides of lengths a and b at a ratio which is set in the range of .+-.10% about a value satisfying the following equation: (n: integer) assuming that .sigma. represents the Poisson's ratio of a piezoelectric material.

5627425 - Vibrating unit - Owned by Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (JP)

Disclosed herein is a vibrating unit comprising vibration cancel means which is coupled to a vibration source through a vibration transfer part. The vibration cancel means receives vibration from the vibration source and resonates in a bending mode, to cancel vibration as propagated by a dynamic vibration absorbing phenomenon.
