A corner piece for connecting adjacent hollow spacer members to form a spacer frame used in the construction of thermally insulated windows. The corner piece includes horizontal and vertical legs forming a right angle. One end of each leg has a cutting edge. When the ends of each leg are inserted into a hollow spacer which has internal partitions, the sharpened cutting edge is able to cut around the adjacent partition and thus enter the spacer fully. The corner piece is constructed in a manner which permits sealant to be injected into the corner pieces and the spacers after assembly to seal off any gaps around the installed corner piece.
A frame assembly for doors, windows and the like includes a fastening element consisting of a longitudinal connecting portion and a transverse clamping portion, a first frame provided with a plurality of locking holes and a second frame provided with two fastening holes. The connecting portion has a side plate extending substantially perpendicular to either lateral side thereof and is provided with a plurality of threaded holes at an upper portion thereof for matching the locking holes. The clamping portion consists of a clamp plate punched and bent from a middle portion of the connecting portion and a grip plate in a relative clamping relationship with the clamp plate; the grip plate being provided with two projecting hook pieces for matching the fastening holes. The connecting portion may be inserted into the first frame so that they may be locked firmly and conveniently by screws. The clamping portion is fitted onto a rear side of the second frame such that the hook pieces of the grip plate hook against the fastening holes in the second frame to ensure the assembly.
An improved screen door frame construction is provided in which at least one transverse door frame member is coupled to the screen door frame stiles by means of plastic coupling elements. The plastic coupling elements are inserted into the opposite ends of each detachable, transverse door frame member. Each coupling element includes a hook that passes across a free, interior wall of a channel formed at the facing, interior side of one of the door stiles. The tips of the coupling elements include barbs that engage in an interlocking fashion with bearing ledges formed on the inside surfaces of the free interior channel walls. The compression bead that is utilized to attach a screen to a door frame serves the further function of maintaining the hooks of the coupling elements in interlocking engagement with the channels of the door frame stiles. The use of the coupling elements of the invention avoids the necessity for prepunching the stiles with openings and forming dangerous, projecting metal fastening tabs on the ends of the transverse door frame members.
An elongated spacer is disclosed for use in separating the glass panes in multiple-glazed thermal windows. The spacer has an elongated hollow interior for storing a dessicant material and a plurality of moisture barrier partitions at intervals along the length of the interior. The spacers are originally manufactured in oversized lengths and later cut to fit particular windows. The partitions divide the elongated interior into subcompartments, and when the spacer is cut to length the partitions confine moisture contamination and dessicant loss to the particular subcompartment which is cut.
A pair of L-section elements extend generally perpendicular to each other and each have a pair of legs one of which is provided with a mounting formation and the other of which is generally coplanar with the other leg of the other element. The corner connector has a body adapted to fit between and abut ends of the one pair of legs of the elements and a pair of retaining arms extending from the body and resiliently engaging the respective mounting formations. Each body is comprised of an outer part of a width substantially the same as a width of the one legs and an inner part behind the outer part and from which the retaining arms extend.
The invention provides a moulding of foam synthetic resin for hiding the angle zone between the wall and the ceiling or between the wall and the floor of a room, which to the rear has a retainer profile (7 and 8), into which the lugs (9 and 10) on the fittings (1) fit. The fittings (1) secured in the angle zone between the wall and the ceiling thus bear the moulding (2) and the arrangement in accordance with the invention consisting of the moulding (2) and the fittings (1) may also constitute the border of a suspended ceiling adjacent to the walls and in this respect simultaneously perform a load bearing function as regards the ceiling edge elements of the suspended ceiling. The suspended ceiling may be a coffered ceiling, whose coffer frame are constituted by the mouldings (2). The angles constituted by two respective mouldings of a coffer frame are held together by means of angle fittings or, respectively, resilient staples.
