Abstract
The invention relates to a device for selectively positioning a tool carried by a vehicle moving on the perforated plate of a bank of tubes, said device being composed of a vehicle comprising transfer members mounted to slide in a central body and comprising on either side thereof jacks extending at right angles to the planes in which said members move and of which the mobile rods of said jacks comprise at their free end positioning fingers, which vehicle is connected by swivel joint means to an articulated telescopic arm comprising means for fixation to the opening giving access to the enclosure, which arm maintains the vehicle, in the course of its displacements in the enclosure, permanently in contact with said perforated plate. The invention is more particularly applicable to the maintenance of apparatus comprising banks of tubes, in particular steam generators of nuclear power stations.

5073332 - Device to position a device in a cylindrical cavity comprising perforation disposed along a regular network - Owned by Intercontrole S.A. (Rungis Cedex,FR)

So as to position a device, such as an eddy current probe support inside a cylindrical cavity with radial perforations opening into said cavity, a device (36) is proposed, said device including a pole (50) orientated parallel to the axis of the cavity. This pole may occupy different pre-established indexing positions in rotation and in translation inside the cavity by means of a mechanism (42, 44, 54, 58, 60). In each of these indexing positions, an active head (98), mounted at the extremity of the pole (50) by means of a pantograph (66) and a cladding arm (100), is able to move in a specific active zone on the lower wall of the cavity. To this effect, the active head is clad by the arm (100) and is equipped with autonomous thrustors controlling its movement.

5504788 - Support plate inspection device

A device for inspecting the support plates and tube sheet of a nuclear steam generator. The device comprises a boom for extending into an access port of a steam generator and into a lane separating two rows of members, the boom being uprightable within the lane; and a video camera attached to the boom for inspecting the tube members and support plates within the lane when the boom is uprighted. In a preferred embodiment the video camera comprises a charge coupled device affixed to a remotely controlled pan and tilt mechanism.

7314343 - Miniature manipulator for servicing the interior of nuclear steam generator tubes - Owned by Westinghouse Electric Co. LLC (Pittsburgh, PA)

A manipulator for servicing tubes extending through a tube sheet having three major components: a base member, a block member, and a foot member. The base member has a holder for supporting tooling or inspection devices. The base member also has at least one gripper for releasably gripping a tube extending through the tube sheet. The block member is connected to the base member for linear movement and rotation relative to the base member. The foot member is connected to the block member for linear movement relative to the block member. The foot member has at least one, and preferably two grippers, for releasably gripping a tube extending through the tube sheet. The manipulator supports itself using the two sets of expandable and translatable grippers that anchor into the tube ends and can move from tube to tube by alternately engaging each set of grippers.
