A plurality of flexible strips are included in a changeable character display device. Each strip has a series of display portions that are longitudinally arranged on a strip. A guide panel of the device includes respective pairs of apertures arranged laterally in a row. Each respective pair of apertures is associated with a respective one of the flexible strips. Each flexible strip is arranged to have a viewable display portion situated between the individual ones of the associated pair of apertures whereby the respective displayed portions of the plurality of strips form lateral rows. The non-displayed portions of the respective flexible strips extend rearwardly through the associated pair of apertures. A guide channel member includes a laterally-extending channel that receives the non-displayed portions of the flexible strips and clusters them together in a lateral direction. A further row of characters which are vertically spaced from the first row may be included in the display device while being closely spaced to the first row. Rapid and accurate changing of the characters of each flexible strip is facilitated by alignment apertures in the flexible strip situated between adjacent display portions on the strip.
A window badge (10) comprises a substrate (11) having an elongate channel (16) for slidably receiving therein an elongate strip having indicia thereon and a see-through panel (17) united with the substrate (11) and bridging the channel (16) such that the opposite ends of the channel (16) are open. The arrangement is such that the strip may be positioned in the channel (16) so that the indicia are visible through the panel (17) and are centrally located behind the panel (17).
An improved identification holder suitable for use in environments conducive to sign deterioration, and having changing subject applications and particular viewing requirements, and that permits easy insertion, and intentional removal and replacement of a flexible information sheet, while substantially preventing intentional or accidental removal or displacement of the information sheet by either small children and the like or elements such as sleet, hail, wind, rain, and other such elements. An information sheet can be removably seated into an undercut portion within an interior display chamber and cannot be easily removed without applying pressure against the inner wall of the information sheet via a sheet removal tool inserted through a selected orifice located at the back side of the display chamber, or alternatively by accessing a selected edge of the information sheet via a sheet removal tool inserted into the undercut portion via one or more selected passages configured to allow the sheet removal tool to penetrate the undercut portion of the identification holder.
