A unique, easily employable, portable, lap-oriented desk unit is achieved by providing securely affixing supporting cushion means to a housing assembly, which housing assembly comprises a work supporting surface and movable, fully contained illumination means associated therewith and movable between a first, stowed position, and a second deployed position, wherein said illumination means is in juxtaposed, spaced illuminating relationship with said work surface. In the preferred embodiment, the portable, lap-oriented desk unit also incorporates a secure, enclosed, storage zone in which any desired equipment for performing the particular work can be securely retained and stored for use when needed. In this way, a completely portable, easily employed lap-oriented desk unit is obtained which provides for secure storage of all of the requisite material needed for performing the work function, as well as providing portable, self-contained, self-powered illumination means for assuring complete illumination of the work surface whenever required.
A portable clipboard is provided for use by medical professionals with a latching, pullout drawer with an integral storage area for prescription pads, medical forms and writing implements. The top surface incorporates a clip to secure documents and the pullout drawer can be moved to the open position while maintaining the top surface in position for writing.
This invention relates to a portable expandable desk comprising a first substantially rigid flat surface member; a second substantially rigid flat surface member; a means for hingedly attaching the first surface member to the second surface member so that the first and second surface members are capable of folding together; and a means for bracing the first surface member and the second surface member in an unfold position wherein the bracing means comprises a gripping means to prevent the bracing means from inadvertently disengaging from the first or second surface member.
A lap top computer work station comprising two top covers hingedly connected to a center base which in a closed, non-use position is a slim, portable work station, and in an open, use position provides for upright diskette holders in one open cover, a tilted pad or sheet material display and holder on another open cover, and a tilted computer rest for a lap top computer in the center base.
A portable clipboard includes an integral storage box for transporting various accessories such as pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, calculators, etc. The writing surface of the clipboard is provided with a spring retaining clip for securing papers and is mounted by a hinge to a shallow rectangular box. In a second embodiment, a battery operated light is secured by a flexible stem on the upper surface of the clipboard and a digital clock is also provided.
A portably writing box usable primarily by children during long automobile trips. The writing surface is illuminated by three separate lamp mechanisms arranged along three different edges of the writing surface. Light rays are directed onto the writing surface from three different directions, thereby eliminating shadows that might otherwise be generated by a single light source located only long one edge of the writing surface. The writing box preferably includes a transistor radio on the lid of the box, such that the child can choose between writing on the writing surface or listening to the radio.
