Abstract
Transportation apparatus comprises a guideway and at least one vehicle on the guideway. The vehicle has an integral load-carrying compartment. The guideway includes a divergent junction and selectively operable switches to direct the vehicle to follow either the left hand or right hand path out of the junction. The vehicle has a bottom support adjacent the bottom of the load-carrying compartment and at both sides of the vehicle for engagement with lower support rails on the guideway. Cantilever supports engage upper guide surfaces provided on the guideway. The cantilever supports are duplicated on both sides of the vehicle and include one and the same upper follower, for engagement with an upper guide surface on the guideway, common to both of the cantilever supports so that the vehicle may be supported in cantilever fashion from either side on a single lower support rail and a single upper guide surface.

A high-speed transportation mechanism on rail track, wherein sleepers 4 are laid out on gravel 5 on the ground. A first rail (mono rail) 3 for supporting the weight of a vehicle 1 is laid down on the sleepers 4. A second rail (guide rail) 7 is suspended from an upside-down L sectional shape column 8 at an upper position opposed to the lower position of the first rail 3, the vehicle 1 will not fall on its side because a wheel of a lower side carriage 2, is fitted closely to the first rail 3, and a wheel of an upper carriage 6 is fitted closely to the second rail 7. A plurality of vehicles 1 are connected to each other through couplers 9, whereby the vehicle 1 can be run safely and stably at high speeds on a centrifugally forced curved line because it can run at any inclination angle. Thus, risks such as yawing, rising, and derailing of the vehicle 1 can be reduced.

7243604 - Hidden-rail and dual-attraction balancing compensation type permanent magnetic levitation train and railway system

A hidden-rail dual-attraction balancing compensation type permanent magnetic levitation train and railway system are provided. The hidden rails are provided inside two underground tubes, and each tube is communicated with the ground via a rail through silt. A magnetically conductive wing rail is mounted at each inner side surface of the tube and a central portion of the magnetically conductive wing rail is used as a guide rail, magnetically conductive plate rails are provided on a top inner surface of each tube and arranged at two side of the rail through slit, each vehicle of the train comprises two underground magnetic levitation power cabins located inside the tubes respectively and an aboveground car which are connected integrally to each other via web girder in the shape of a plate therebetween, a top permanent magnet is mounted on a top outer surface of each magnetic levitation power cabin and face a plane of the magnetically conductive plate rail, and two wing permanent magnets are fixed at each outer side surface of the magnetic levitation power cabin and correspond to the magnetically conductive wing rails. A set of power units and two sets of guide fixed pulleys are disposed inside each magnetic levitation power cabin, in which the guide fixed pulleys are contacted with the guide rails on both side inner surfaces of each tube.

5706735 - System for automated transport of automobile platforms, passenger cabins and other loads - Owned by Autran Corp. (Northbrook, IL)

A system is provided that uses small carrier vehicles that operate along electrified guideways and use standardized connections to automatically carry passenger cabins, freight loads and automobile platforms to desired destinations. Front and rear bogies of the vehicles pivot about front and rear vertical turn axes and carry direction control wheels that cooperate with guide ribs along tracks for selective control of movement to either of two exits from a Y junction. Electric power can be supplied through upper and lower track structures which can be of laminated construction. The guideway provides a protected environment for error-free data transmissions made through closely spaced inductive couplings between monitoring and control circuits along the guideway and control circuits of the carrier vehicles. Control circuitry is provided to obtain highly reliable control of vehicle speed and of starting, stopping and merge operations.

4919056 - Shelf conveying system - Owned by Koettgen GmbH & Co. KG (Bergisch Gladbach,DE)

Shelf conveying system which is guided within one upper track system (8) and one ground track system (7), has driving bogies (3), which are supported by wheels (10) on two bearing surfaces of the track system (7) and are equipped with guide rollers (12), which abut laterally on the track system and can be removed at the branches for a straight-ahead path or to introduce branch paths. In addition, each driving bogie has at least one pilot roller (13) which extends into the gap between the bearing surfaces. The pilot roller (13) can be simultaneously designed as a track fastening element (14) which effectively connects with the track by contact with the back taper surfaces of the ground track system (7) (FIG. 3).

6622635 - Automated transportation system - Owned by Autran Corp. (Evanston, IL)

A system is provided that includes guideways having tracks for supporting a type of vehicle which moves within the guideways and tracks for a type of vehicle which moves on top of the guideways. Guide tracks are provided within the guideways for guiding vehicles of either type and controlling movement through Y junctions. The type of vehicle that moves on top of the guideway includes auxiliary wheels which cooperate with auxiliary tracks in Y junctions to insure reliable support. Each type of vehicle includes automatic load tilting mechanisms and also a special four wheel drive arrangement.
