Articulated connection between the break-open action and the at least one barrel of a rifle with two coaxial pairs of articulation members, the two articulation members (1a and 2a) of each pair complementing each other, and respectively one articulation member being provided at the break-open action (1) and, respectively, at the corresponding sidewall of the barrel (20). These articulation members (1a and 2a) exhibit a coupling profile (P1 and P2, respectively) ensuring a shape-mating connection between the break-open action (1) and the barrel (20) also transversely to the firing direction, this coupling profile permitting utilization of the axial pressure (S) produced during firing for generating a component force that is perpendicular to the aforementioned axial pressure (S) and counteracts the spreading apart of the sidewalls (1b) of the break-open action (1).
An over-and-under shotgun apparatus includes a radius track which serves as a hinge for articulating the barrel portion of the shotgun apparatus relative to the receiver/stock portion of the shotgun apparatus. The radius track is defined by a female or concave portion formed on the monoblock attached to the shotgun barrels, and a male or convex portion formed on the frame or receiver section. The radius track defines a pivot axis that is spaced from the radius track. The radius track provides a substantial surface area sufficient to absorb all of the recoil force generated when the shotgun is discharged. No additional abutment surfaces are needed. A further aspect of the invention involves a novel trigger assembly, including a striker which moves toward the front end of the firearm when the firearm is cocked, and moves toward the butt end of the firearm when the trigger is pulled to discharge the firearm. Yet another novel aspect of the invention relates to a four-position safety switch for selecting the firing sequence of the upper and lower barrels.
A rifle has a shoulder support and at least one barrel connected to the shoulder support. A trigger is provided and a chamber is arranged behind the trigger when looking in a direction from a front end of the barrel toward the shoulder support. A movable breechblock has a closed position in which the chamber is closed off. At least one firing pin for firing a cartridge inserted into the chamber when the trigger is triggered is provided. A coupling mechanism connects the shoulder support or a swivel arm to the breechblock. The breechblock is movable by a pivot movement of the shoulder support or the swivel arm transmitted by the coupling mechanism. An axis of rotation of the shoulder support or the swivel arm is arranged within a space delimited by the breechblock and the trigger viewed across a length of the rifle.
