A system for use in making molded polyurethane objects by an open or closed casting process, said system comprising (A) an aromatic polyisocyanate; and (B) an active hydrogen-containing composition comprising (i) a polyhydric alcohol having an average molecular weight in the range of about 1000 to about 8000 and an average functionality of about 2 to about 4; (ii) a polyhydric alcohol having 2 to 12 carbon atoms and an average functionality of about 2 to about 3; and (iii) a secondary monoamine of the formula wherein R and R' are independently saturated aliphatic groups having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, provided that said secondary monoamine contains at least 4 carbon atoms.
Disclosed is a polyurethane resin which is a reaction product of a high molecular weight polyol compound having a molecular weight of 3,000 to 10,000, a low molecular weight polyol compound having a molecular weight of not more than 200, an organic diisocyanate compound, a chain extender, and optionally a reaction terminating agent, wherein the whole of the high molecular weight polyol compound and the low molecular weight polyol compound has an average molecular weight of 1,500 to 2,700; the isocyanate index (I.I.) of the organic diisocyanate compound to the high molecular weight polyol compound satisfies the following condition: I.I.>2.0; and the nitrogen content of the polyurethane resin derived from the isocyanate group of the organic diisocyanate compound is from 1.30 to 1.95% by weight. The polyurethane resin is useful as a binder for a one-component printing ink for a laminate and exhibits excellent blocking resistance and excellent adaptability for boiling or retorting treatment which meet requirements for a printing ink for a laminate.
Melt processable polyurethaneureas are prepared from a diisocyanate, a polyglycol, a diol chain extender and an amine terminated polyether. Water may be included as a reactant, and the polymer may contain an additive such as a radiopaque material and a coating of an antithrombogenic agent or an antimicrobial agent. The invention includes a one-pot bulk polymerization method for preparation of the polymers.
Injection-molded articles consisting of an aliphatic polyester having a melt viscosity of 6.times.10.sup.2 -2.times.10.sup.4 poises at a temperature of 190.degree. C. at a shear rate of 1000 sec.sup.-1 and a melting point of 70.degree.-190.degree. C. The present invention provides injection-molded articles excellent in heat stability and mechanical strength as well as having biodegradability which can be used for industrial parts, automotive members, food and beverage containers, gardening pots and the like.
A series of polymeric compositions, methods of making the compositions and uses of the compositions are described. An exemplary composition is made by copolymerization of a trifunctional amine or hydroxy compound, a monofunctional amine or hydroxy compound and a polyisocyanate compound.
An aliphatic polyester resin composition having a low combustion beat, characterized in that a filler is mixed with an aliphatic polyester having a number-average molecular weight of at least 10,000, synthesized from glycol and aliphatic polybasic acid or acid derivative thereof. A sheet formed from the composition bas excellent tensile strength, stiffness and impact strength as well as being biodegradable.
