Abstract
A swinging mechanism for maintaining pendular movement in a swing. A revolving plate is provided which engages a propulsion member on the swing so as to apply torque to the swing during part of the swing cycle, maintaining pendular movement of the swing despite energy loses due to air friction and the like. Switches are provided to activate rotation of the revolving plate when the swing has reached a rear position, and to continue movement of the revolving plate to return it to a neutral or original position in preparation for the next cycle of the swing movement.

5533936 - Swing with a stabilizer and the stabilizer thereof - Owned by Graco Childrens Products, Inc. (Elverson, PA)

An infant swing assembly has a stabilizer for immobilizing the seat during placement of a child therein and removal therefrom. The stabilizer has at least one connector, preferably a pair of collinearly spaced ring connectors, for pivotally attaching to the hanger of the swing assembly. The stabilizer has an engaging portion, preferably a hook which can be engaged with the leg of the swing assembly to immobilize the seat. The stabilizer can be pivoted downward and positioned adjacent the side of the seat where the stabilizer cannot engage with the leg thus permitting the seat to freely swing and laterally outwardly where the stabilizer is able to engage with the leg.

5971104 - Climbing tree stand - Owned by Summit Specialties, Inc. (Decatur, AL)

A climbing tree stand includes a detachable, reversible seat assembly suspended from the body support structural frame. The seat assembly itself has a seat bottom portion and a back support portion connected to the seat and operable to bear against a transverse portion of the structural frame. A pair of straps attached to the bottom of the seat bottom portion carry hooks at their ends which hooks engage sides of the frame assembly so as to suspend the seat assembly below the frame assembly.

5083773 - Lobe spring motor for child's swing - Owned by Graco Children's Products, Inc. (Elverson, PA)

A spring motor includes a power spring having a plurality of ends, a multiplicity of coils between the ends and a plurality of lobes defined by the coils. Each lobe includes at least some coils which increase and then decrease in radii to define the lobe. The spring is wound through a spool coupled to one end of the spring and engaged with a crankshaft extending through the spring. A lock clutch on the spool prevents the spring from unwinding through the spool. The escapement permits controlled unwinding of the spring to oscillate the carriage. The remaining end of the spring is coupled to a ratchet wheel which is an escape wheel of an escapement. The spring is supported on a mandrel in the form of a tube coupled to the escape wheel. A plurality of coils at one end of the spring forms a slip clutch which engage the tube to prevent overwinding of the spring. A washer mounted on the tube within the spring prevents remaining coils of the spring from engaging coils of the slip clutch.

5525113 - Open top swing & control - Owned by Graco Childrens Products Inc. (Elverson, PA)

An open top swing assembly uses a unique swing drive mechanism and a control to provide three selective swing height settings. The assembly has a frame which provides an open top structure for ease of access and a trapezoidal shaped front base to provide foot clearance. The swing drive mechanism includes a drive sleeve rotatably mounted to an axle that operatively supports the hanger. A drive flange is mounted on the axle, with a drive flange coupling device positioned between the sleeve and the drive flange to provide a limited lost motion connection. The coupling device includes a hub member coaxially and rotatably mounted on the axle and at least one torsional spring mounted coaxially on the hub member. The hub member includes abutments for engaging with the drive flange, whereby torque applied to the sleeve is transferred to the axle. A crank driven by a motor is linked to the sleeve to oscillate the sleeve. The swing height control device can have a sensor for detecting the swing height or amplitude. Preferably, three swing height settings are provided. The control device selectively outputs either no voltage, first, second or third predetermined voltages to selectively control the voltage input to the motor based on the selection of the swing height setting and/or the sensed swing height to achieve the selected swing height.

6059667 - Pendulum-driven child swing - Owned by Cosco, Inc. (Columbus, IN)

A swing assembly includes a support stand, a swing mounted on the support stand to swing back and forth along a swing arc, and a swing driver. The swing driver includes a drive belt coupled to the swing, a belt tensioner coupled to the drive belt to place the drive belt in tension, and a belt driver coupled to the drive belt. The belt driver moves the drive belt relative to the support stand while the drive belt remains in tension to apply force to the swing to sustain swinging movement of the swing along the swing arc. The drive belt includes a strap having a fixed end coupled to the support stand and a free end coupled to the belt tensioner. The drive belt has drive teeth that are appended to the strap and coupled to the belt driver.
