A unitary child-resistant container for pills and the like includes a rectangular tray-shaped body member to which a top closure member is connected by an integral hinge. The top closure member includes a front wall that is normally latched to the front wall of the body member by a latch device that is released by a release button that extends outwardly from the deformable front wall of the body member through a corresponding opening contained in the closure member front wall. Consequently, opening of the container requires the simultaneous depression of the release button and the application of a vertical lifting force on the top closure member. Stiffening ribs may be provided on the underside of the top closure member for frictional engagement with the inner surfaces of the body member side walls, thereby to further retain the closure member in the closed position. Preferably, the container is molded in one step from synthetic plastic material.
A utility knife having a main body formed from a pair of body halves which are assembled together. The main body has an opening at the front with means to prevent the pair of body halves from spreading apart and with means to prevent the blade from swaying from side to side. In addition, means are provided to hold the body halves together without the necessity of using special tools or fastening means.
A case for carrying and storing flexible objects including elongated and small objects in a manner which prevents or reduces the objects from becoming tangled. The case is a two sided case with a central plate or base with each side having an openable lid. The lids are hinged at one side of the case and the lids and base include a latching mechanism for each lid. The exterior of the lids are rigid while the interior of the base and the lids include flexible materials that secure the objects within the case when the lids are closed and provide ease of access to objects when the a lid is open. The latching mechanism includes cooperating elements that permit opening one lid only when that lid is above the base and prevent opening a lid when another lid is open. A locking system secures the lids in closed position.
A computer system includes a chassis and an access panel mounted on the chassis. The panel includes multiple spaced apart interlocks for mounting the panel on the chassis. A latch is operably connected to the chassis to engage and release the interlocks. The latch includes a main body, a latch member extending from each opposite end of the body for engagement with the interlocks, a single point pressure member and a pair of cantilevered support members extending from the single point pressure member. The support members include extensions for engaging the chassis and retaining the single point pressure member and each latch member in a raised position relative to the chassis for engagement with the interlocks. The application of pressure to the single point pressure member, moves the device to release the latches out of engagement with the interlocks.
A lockable pill container is disclosed including a main body with a plurality of individual compartments for receiving pills. Each compartment has a lid member connected to the main body by a hinge permitting it to be moved between open and closed positions. Each lid member has a downwardly projecting hook member that projects through an opening in the main body when the lid is closed. An elongated locking member is laterally inserted into the main body and transversely moveable relative to the hook members between first and second positions. In the first position, the elongated locking member engages the hook members of those lid members that are closed to lock them in the closed position. In the second position, the elongated locking member does not engage the hook members which may be opened and closed without the locking function. The elongated locking member is normally biased into the locking position by a transverse member that includes a downwardly projecting, externally accessible transverse member. The transverse member is formed from resilient material, which normally biases the elongated locking member to its first or locking position. The user may press the transverse member and thus move the elongated locking member against the bias to the second or nonlocking position. The elongated locking member may be selectively removed from the pill container to render the locking feature inoperative if the pill container is used in an environment where locking is not necessary.
A slide-type lock lever release mechanism includes a slidable member (40) with a second acting surface slidable on the first acting surface of the lock lever (20) by a predetermined stroke for flexing the lock lever away from the second lock engaging member (211) to thereby release the engagement between the first and second lock engaging members, wherein at least one of the first and second acting surfaces having at least two acting surface sections (42, 43) such that a first acting surface section (42) is slidable on the other one of the acting surfaces (23) in a first segment of the predetermined stroke and a second acting surface section (43) is slidable on the other one (23) in a second segment of the predetermined stroke to thereby provide smooth release of the lock engagement with a relatively short stroke of the slidable means.
