An amusement device is shown which comprises a lightweight bag tethered at its opposite ends to upper and lower, pivotal swivels. The bag is suspended by the upper cord and the lower cord has a length substantially greater than the normal distance of the bag from the lower swivel. The bag is readily deformable and resilient so that it cannot cause injury. The cords are elastic and resilient so that when it is struck by a players hand, or fist, it gyrates and travels in an unpredictable fashion presenting a challenge to its being repetitively hit, as is the object of its competitive use where players attempt to cause the bag to strike an opponent. The device is uniquely adapted for use by persons confined in wheel chairs.
A punching handle accessory of simplified design and construction which enables a user to perform various natural, unobstructed punching motions, while overcoming a cable actuated resistance. An elongated, crescent shaped mounting bracket provides a resistance connection point on each end. A pressure plate is attached to the mounting bracket by a spindle. The spindle attaches the pressure plate to the concave side of the crescent shaped elongated mounting bracket generally midway between the resistance connection points. The spindle allows the pressure plate to rotate on the mounting bracket along an axis which is generally perpendicular to a straight line passing through the resistance connection points on the elongated mounting bracket. A non-supportive handle cross member is attached to the pressure plate. This handle cross member, when grasped in a user's palm, only correctly positions the user's fist in relation to the rotational centerline of the pressure plate and spindle. The handle cross member will not support a user's fist by the palm away from the pressure plate. Therefore all resistance is placed against the knuckles of a user's fist. Resistance is provided from above and below the punching handle accessory by cable ends attached to the resistance connection points on the elongated mounting bracket.
A punching device for boxers to be used simultaneously by spaced apart facing boxers, the punching device connected to the floor with an extension coil spring attached to an upper post, the upper post then having oppositely situated outwardly extending punching or boxing bags, the punching bags attached to the upright upper post by separate extension coil springs. One boxer will hit one boxing bag causing it to retreat from his blow while simultaneously imparting motion into the opposite boxing bag, the resultant movement of the opposite boxing bag effected by the response of 3 extension coil springs. Such presents a boxing bag moving in an unpredictable path for the opposite boxer, who, in turn punches his bag which then effects the first boxers boxing bag. Such device provides unexpected response to another fighter's punches simulating movements of opponent boxers in a boxing or sparing match. In addition, the invention may be utilized by a single boxer, in which case, it responds similarly to presently commonly available punching bags.
A limited contact boxing game and apparatus for playing the game includes a platform having an upper surface for supporting two individuals in a standing or crouched position. A platform is preferably in the shape of a square boxing ring and may be elevated and/or include a set of ropes surrounding the platform. The upper surface of the platform includes two or more spaced apart designated boundary areas of equal size and a tethered ball disposed in the space between the two designated areas. The tethered ball is adapted to be struck by each of the individuals toward the other in order to obtain a score by striking the individuals head or body or by causing the individual to step out of their designated boundary area.
A boxing training target is formed with a central, elongated, elastic bungee cord at its core. The elastic, bungee cord core line is encompassed within a plastic sheath that is surrounded by a resilient foam jacket having an outer diameter of between about one-half and six inches. The jacket extends over a length of at least about five feet of the core line in an area corresponding to the vertical level of the head, torso, and legs of an opponent. A sheath surrounds the jacket and has indicia thereon at different vertical levels. The elastic bungee cord is maintained in tension between an overhead support and a floor support. As blows are delivered to the target, the target quivers laterally thus necessitating good hand and eye coordination to repeatedly land blows upon the target. The vertically separated indicia provide different target areas for a boxer to vary the vertical level at which successive blows are delivered.
A circular fitness apparatus and method. The circular fitness apparatus includes plural flexible exercise attachments attached to a vertical pole in a hollow circular base that can be selected and used for simultaneous group or individual fitness exercises by plural exercise participants. The circular fitness apparatus is useable for group and individual exercise activities comprising health based, skill based and functional based fitness activities.
