A neutralizing and conditioning composition for the hair includes an oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide and an amino-functional polymeric silicone additive for imparting durable conditioning benefits to the hair. A method is provided for neutralizing and conditioning hair which has been subjected to a waving or straightening treatment with keratin reducing agent by applying the new composition to the treated hair.
The cosmetic composition includes hydrophobic lipophilic materials as the principle vehicle carrying the active ingredients in a continuous solid phase, the composition is formed into a hairstick by locating the composition in a container having means to mechanically extrude the composition out of the open end of the container. A unique process is provided for forming the composition and locating the composition in the container. In one embodiment the composition is layered alternately between removably impermeable membranes in the container such that when the top layer of composition is used, the next lower membrane may be removed to allow the next layer of composition to be used.
A process for permanent waving of hair by a reaction in which cystine bridges are reduced to cysteine, the hair reshaped, and the reaction reversed. The improvement in the process resides in the step of reducing or reversing the reaction by applying to hair a composition which includes an emulsion polymerized mercapto functional silicone. Permanent hair waving with waving lotions, neutralizing solutions, or both, containing such emulsion polymerized mercapto functional silicones, provide waved hair with improved conditioning benefits.
The pasty organopolysiloxane composition is compounded from a methyl phenyl polysiloxane fluid and 5 to 50% by weight of a fatty acid ester of saccharose. The composition is highly transparent and useful as a base of various kinds of pasty preparations for cosmetic and medicinal uses to give an advantage of refreshed feeling without stickiness to the person using the preparation by applying to the skin after wiping off because the composition is free from the problem of powdery residue when the preparation on the skin has been wiped off.
A process for permanent waving of hair by a reaction in which cystine bridges are reduced to cysteine, the hair reshaped, and the reaction reversed. The improvement in the process resides in the step of reversing the reaction by applying to hair a composition which includes a vinyl functional silicone, a carrier fluid, and an oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide. Permanent hair waving neutralizer compositions are also described.
The use of siloxanes for conditioning of hair is disclosed. They hold particular usefulness as substitutes for oxidizing agents in the hair waving process. A novel polymeric composition which comprises a silanol endblocked polydiorganosiloxane, cyclic siloxanes, a chlorobenzyl-functional siloxane and a catalyst is also disclosed.
