Abstract
A package (10) for dispensing a fluid (26) in the package under gas pressure has a biaxially oriented polyethelene terepthalate bottle (12) with a neck (14). A dispensing head (22) is attached to the neck (14). A normally closed valve (16) is mounted in the neck and has a housing (50) sealed to the inside surface of the neck (14). The housing (50) has a syphon flange (54). An integral structure (56) having a spring (58) at one end and a poppet (60) at a second end rests on the syphon flange (54). The housing has an opening (48) above the syphon flange 54). The integral structure (56) extends between the syphon flange (54) and the opening (48). The integral structure (56) is dimensioned so that the spring (58) is compressed to bias the poppet end of the integral structure (56) into sealing engagment around the opening (48). The dispensing head (22) has an integral diaphragm (42) and rods (52) and (46) extending above and below the diaphragm (42). Lever (24) applies downward force on the rods (52) and (46) to move the poppet end of the integral structure (56) out of sealing engagement around opening (48) to create a flow path (92) for the fluid (26) in the package (10) through the valve housing (50), the opening (48) and spout (28) of the head (22). A resilient grommet (148) forms a second seal around the opening between the housing and the poppet end of the integral structure.

5046645 - Syphon package with mechanically attached valve - Owned by McKesson Corporation (San Francisco, CA)

A syphon seltzer package (10) consists of a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottle (12) with a neck (16) having an opening (18), into which a valve insert (20) is mounted. The insert (20) is held in place by mechanical attachment. The insert (20) fits into a sleeve (50) in an interference fit. Projections (52) on the outside of wall (32) insure a positive seal between the insert (20) and the sleeve (50). Similar projections (54) on the outside surface (56) of the sleeve (50) provide a positive seal between the sleeve (50) and the neck (16) of the bottle (12). At the bottom of the sleeve (50), there are four projections (58) spaced at 90 degree intervals around the sleeve (50). Castellations (60) are provided around the sleeve (50) between the projections (58). To assemble the package (20), the sleeve is inserted in the neck (16). The insert (20) is then driven into the sleeve (50). An interference fit between the insert (20) and the sleeve (50) causes the projections (58) and the castellations (60) to splay outward when the insert (20) is fully driven into the sleeve (50). The outward splaying of the projections (58) and castellations (60) locks the sleeve (50) and insert (20) in place in the neck (16) of the bottle (12).

6116465 - Container stopper with shut-off valve

The container stopper comprises a cylindrical part to be engaged in the neck of a container and has a groove which extends peripherally on at least one part of the cylindrical part circumference. Two channels separated from each other, extend in the cylindrical part of the stopper and open into the groove through orifices respectively spaced from each other in the groove peripheral direction. A diaphragm of elastomeric material closely matches the shape of the cylindrical part and the groove surface covering the orifices of the two channels. The diaphragm forms a shut-off valve that by its elastic deformation, allows a fluid substance contained in the container to flow from inside the container outwards, as well as from outside into the said container.

5249713 - Pump valve assembly - Owned by Perfect-Valois Ventil GmbH (Dortmund-Wickede,DE)

Package comprising a liquid receptacle and a hand pump arranged thereon, the actuating and dispensing head of which, which can be operated counter to the action of a compression spring, is provided with an outlet opening for the liquid. A protective cap is detachably secured on the upper side of the liquid receptacle. Secured swivelably in the protective cap is a pump-actuated lever. The actuating lever extends from its swiveling spindle in the protective cap to beyond the dispensing head of the pump. The free lever end is angled in the direction of the receptacle lid. The protective cap is provided in the region of the free lever end with an opening into which the actuating lever at least projects. At the top, the dispensing head is connected with the actuating lever in such a way that it is non-rotatable but axially movable; its outlet opening is in alignment with a passage opening in the protective cap. The package is easy to handle and space-saving.

5203478 - Dispenser assembly for a fluid product comprising a device having a twin lever arm in order to actuate a dispensing means - Owned by L'Oreal (Paris,FR)

In the device (1) according to the invention, the lever arm actuating the valve consists of an element (5) disposed symmetrically on either side of the push-button against which it presses by means of a projection (24). The small plate (5) has four catches (25a, 25b, 25c, 25d) each sliding in a channel formed in a guide means (16a, 16b, 16c, 16d) carried by the fixed part (4) of the distributor head parallel to the longitudinal axis of the assembly. When one end (23a) of the small plate (5) is pressed, the two catches (25a, 25d) slide downwards in their channels and the other two catches (25b, 25c) remain in the abutting position at the top of their associated channels.

7077298 - Beverage container provided with a dispensing valve with improved operating means - Owned by Heineken Technical Services B.V. (Amsterdam,NL)

Beverage container provided with a dispensing valve (7) and a dispensing channel (31, 33) connected to said dispensing valve, wherein an operating arm (41) is provided which, in a position of rest, includes an angle with a plane at right angles to a longitudinal axis (L) of the dispensing valve, wherein a pressure body (19) is provided between the pivoting arm and the valve, such that upon a pivotal movement of the arm from the position of rest the pressure body is moved and the valve is opened by the pressure body.
