Hexaazatriphenylene hexanitrile and various derivatives therefrom including its hexacarboxamide, hexacarboxylic acid and hexaacid salts and metal complexes, lower alkyl hexaesters of the hexacarboxylic acid, and hexacarboxylic trisanhydride are described along with their preparations initiating with reacting hexaketocyclohexane octahydrate with excess diaminomaleonitrile in acetic acid, preferably at reflux temperature, to provide the hexanitrile from which the other derivatives are prepared.
An organic transistor including an organic layer is provided. The organic layer includes at least one compound represented by the Chemical Formula I. ##STR1##
The present invention relates to electronic devices comprising an organic compound acting to inject or transport holes with p-type semi-conducting characteristics. The present invention provides for electronic devices comprising at least one or more layers selected from a group composed of a hole injecting layer, a hole transporting layer, and a hole injecting and transporting layer which comprises hexaazatriphenylene based organic compound represented by chemical formula (1), wherein the devices can use low drive-voltage, and can improve a light-emitting life.
A tandem OLED includes an anode and a cathode. The OLED also includes at least two electroluminescent units disposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein each of the electroluminescent units includes at least one hole-transporting layer and one organic light-emitting layer. An intermediate connector is disposed between adjacent electroluminescent units, wherein the intermediate connector includes an n-doped organic layer and an electron-accepting layer, the electron-accepting layer being disposed closer to the cathode than the n-doped organic layer, and wherein the electron-accepting layer includes one or more organic materials, each having a reduction potential greater than -0.5 V vs. a Saturated Calomel Electrode, and wherein the one or more organic materials constitute more than 50% by volume of the electron-accepting layer.
Disclosed are organic electroluminescent devices employing materials of a low reduction potential in a layer functioning hole-injection. The organic electroluminescent devices may employ an anode material having a relatively low work function. Aluminum may be used in anode. During the operation, the organic electroluminescent devices may form a virtual electrode in their internal area, which enhances injection of carriers from a nearby electrode. Use of aluminum in the anode helps construction of cathode-emission organic electroluminescent devices.
