Abstract
A manifold connector, sheath connector and housing connector are provided for independently connecting a fiber enclosing sheath and (laser enhanced) fiber optic catheter housing to a transluminal balloon catheter manifold. The housing connector includes a locking plate enclosure, and a planar locking plate contained in the enclosure to reciprocate between open and locking positions, and spring biased into the locking position. The sheath connector includes an elongate cylindrical body attached to the distal end of the sheath, a disc extended radially outward of the body, and a sleeve extended forwardly of the disc perimeter and coaxial with the body. Two elongate levers also are mounted to the disc perimeter, and normally are aligned with the sleeve. A detent extends radially inward from the distal end of each lever. The manifold connector has an annular groove formed in its exterior, which is positionable to receive a locking blade portion of the locking plate, thus to form an interlocking engagement of the housing connector and manifold connector. An annular recess, formed in the manifold connector behind the annular groove, receives and retains the detents when the sheath connector and manifold connector are engaged.

6066129 - Medical laser control system

A medical laser adapted to be controlled remotely from the main operating console, and more particularly, a handpiece held by the surgeon which includes one or more remote controls for actuating and controlling the operation of a medical laser.

5462527 - Actuator for use with steerable catheter - Owned by C.R. Bard, Inc. (Murray Hill, NJ)

A handle/actuator for use with a steerable catheter having a tip assembly and four pull cables for bending said tip assembly, comprises a housing containing rotary and linear actuators. The rotary actuator is in the form of a wheel rotatably supported in said housing with a portion of said wheel being accessible from the exterior of said housing. Two of the pull cables are anchored to the wheel such that clockwise rotation of the wheel applies tension to one pull cable and counter-clockwise rotation of the wheel applies tension to the second pull cable. The linear actuator comprises a slider mounted in said housing and means exterior of the housing for moving the slider linearly. The third and fourth pull cables are anchored to the slider such that linear movement of the slider in one direction applies tension to the third cable and linear movement of the slider in the opposite direction applies tension to the fourth cable.

5715817 - Bidirectional steering catheter - Owned by C.R. Bard, Inc. (Murray Hill, NJ)

A bidirectional steering catheter comprising a distal electrode assembly, a flexible tip assembly, an elongated shaft having a central lumen running the length of the shaft, and a handle/actuator. A plurality of ring electrodes are attached to the surface of the flexible tip assembly. Signal wires running the length of the catheter are electrically connected to each ring electrode. At least two pull cables having first and second ends extend distally through the central lumen. The first end of each pull cable is attached to the handle/actuator. The second end of each pull cable is attached to the distal electrode assembly, such that the distal electrode assembly may be moved between a first and a second position within a single plane by manipulating the handle/actuator. At least two reinforcement members are located inside the flexible tip assembly. Each reinforcement member has a proximal section, a middle section and a distal section. Each proximal section has a larger diameter than each middle section, thus being stiffer than the middle section. This variable stiffness along the length of the each reinforcement member distributes stresses evenly along the length of the tip assembly.

7163531 - User-friendly catheter connection adapters for optimized connection to multiple lumen catheters - Owned by Baxter International, Inc. (Deerfield, IL) Baxter Healthcare S.A. (Zurich,CH)

A catheter connection adapter is provided which allows for a user-friendly and mistake-proof connection of a multiple lumen catheter from a dialysis patient to a source of dialysis fluid. The connection adapter contains at least two ports, e.g., one for inflow and one for outflow, and may have a tapered gap between the ports so that an interference fit is made when the ports are inserted into the catheter. In addition, the ports may have a unique key and lock configuration with the catheter such that a fit can only be made when the catheter lumens and the ports are in proper alignment, and the ports may be unconnected to one another so as to provide separate fluid paths for inflow or outflow. The connection adapters are advantageous in that they will allow a multiple lumen catheter to be manually connected to other dialysis equipment following implantation in a patient.

7537245 - Strain relief device and connector assemblies incorporating same - Owned by Medtronic, Inc. (Minneapolis, MN)

A connector assembly for interconnecting separate sections of tubing, e.g., catheters, and a method for using the same. Connector assemblies in accordance with embodiments of the present invention may be a two-piece construction having a connector pin and a strain relief device. The strain relief device, in addition to providing secure, substantially leak-free coupling of the tubing sections, may also provide strain relief to the tubing interconnection.
