Abstract
The invention provides a mattress with aeration cavities, consisting of a layer of flexible material with a lower face (3) by which the mattress may bear on an undermattress and an upper face (4) for receiving the body of a person, each face being defined by an edge (5), the lower face (3) having a plurality of cavities (10, 110).

5083335 - Pressure reduction foam mattress support

A foam mattress support having a top, intermediate and bottom layer. The intermediate layer includes a plurality of ribs having a cross-sectional area increasing in the direction perpendicular to the pad, the height of the ribs being at least as great as one-third of the thickness of the pad, and the cross-sectional area of the ribs at the head and foot end being substantially equal but being less than the cross-sectional area of the ribs between the head and foot ends.

4967433 - Foam body support member having elongated chevron-shaped convolutions - Owned by DeRoyal Industries, Inc. (Powell, TN)

A body support member fabricated of an open-cell polyurethane foam sheet, such sheet having a plurality of chevron-shaped ridges projecting from one flat surface of the sheet and extending between opposite side edges of the sheet. Each chevron-shaped ridge has a single bend therein along its length dimension, such bend occurring at the approximate mid-point of such length dimension. The ridges alternate with similarly shaped valleys so that substantially one entire surface of the sheet is made up of such alternating ridges and valleys. The preferred ridges are of a hyperbolic geometry in cross section. The height of each ridge above the surface of the sheet, and the spacing between adjacent ridges preferably are selected to provide the desired support of the body member above the surface. Deflection of the ridges due to body pressure applied there against deforms the ridges causing adjacent ridges to contact one another and provide an infinitely increasing degree of resistance to collapse of the ridge, hence support of the body member. The bent ridges develop air circulation channels along the valleys as the ridges contact one another.

4998308 - Seclusion room bed

A heavy, pliable and substantially indestructible bed for use in conjunction with a stripped room having flush mounted floor anchors to facilitate the restraint of a violent or out-of-control patient during a "time-out" period. Restraints attached to floor anchors adjacent the sides of the bed, are attached to the patient. The lack of hard edges, corners or surfaces prevents injury to the patient and staff during a struggle, while the smooth exterior surfaces eases clean up. A safe and sanitary environment is thereby provided for a seclusion room.

7484811 - Apparatus for supporting a person and method of forming thereof

An apparatus having a fabric and method of forming thereof. The fabric's load bearing surface for supporting a load, comprising: at least one layer(s) (L.sub.n) wherein n=0, -1, -2, . . . -i, wherein n=0 represents the at least one layer(s) (L.sub.n) of the load bearing surface that contacts the load. An n=-1, -2, . . . -i, represents successive underlying at least one layer(s) (L.sub.n) of the load bearing surface. An n=-i, represents a bottom underlying at least one layer(s) (L.sub.n). The fabric consists essentially of a polyurethane fiber and a fiber that is chemically different from the polyurethane fiber, and wherein the fabric has been stretched to the point just before encountering the Young's Modulus. The method comprising: cutting the fabric to a predetermined pattern; and stretching the fabric to the point just before encountering the Young's Modulus.
