An automatic transaction apparatus for processing transactions by the operation by a customer has a display unit, a through-vision touch type input device disposed on a screen of the display unit, and a judging device for judging a request of an operator for operation of the apparatus. The display unit, when operated by a customer, displays a text of designating customer's operation and an illustration thereof, and displays in a step where an operation to be selected or designated by the customer is needed, any item so selected and designated. The display unit, when the operator presents a request for operation by himself using a key, etc., displays a switch screen for setting functions of the automatic transaction apparatus or altering any of those functions or a screen of processing a fault as a screen use for operator operation. Even if the display unit has displayed a screen for customer operation and for operator operation, provided that there is included any item of selection or designation therein, a display position of said item is sensed by the input device by directly touching the position, and the item selected or designated can be thereby entered in the apparatus.
A money exchanging machine for performing exchange between the Japanese yen and the U.S. dollar, the machine having a bills opening in which the yen and dollar bills are received. The machine comprises a checking section for storing the yen and dollar bills received through the bills opening in denominations of 10,000 bills, $10 bills and other bills, and a sorting conveyor mechanism including a conveyor passage and a sorting gate. The machine further comprises a first storing section for storing the 10,000 bills sorted by the sorted by the sorting conveyor mechanism, a second storing section for storing $10 bills sorted by the sorting conveyor mechanism, and a third storing section for storing bills other than the 10,000 and $10 bills sorted by the storing conveyor mechanism. The 10,000 bills stored in the first storing section and the $10 bills stored in the second storing section are paid as exchanging currencies.
An automated teller machine provided with a plurality of input means and a corresponding method for conducting transactions using this machine. In the machine, a touch sensor for producing a signal when a user touches a previously registered area with a finger and a character recognition sensor for recognizing characters drawn on another previously registered area are superposed on a display. The sensor to be operated is selected in accordance with input data, the kind of transaction and/or user's preference. Thus, the data can be input in a manner which provides the easiest and most efficient mode of use for the user.
A process controller controls the information display of a display device and performs a transaction procedure based on the information input from the input device via the input controller. The process controller has a group display unit. The group display unit previously groups display information to the screen of the display device based on an input made by a user via the input device and the internal state of the process controller for each associative information, and displays the display information on the screen of the display device group by group in a systematically organized form. The state of a transfer procedures is displayed by three general groups affixed with, for example, tabs, and an input format in the style of the image of a slip. This allows the user to easily grasp the operation state during operation and also presents a friendlier input style to the user.
An automatic teller machine having an operation guide, an input unit, a transaction medium handling unit a halt requesting unit for requesting suspension of a transaction, a transaction recording unit for recording transaction information including information entered up to the point when the transaction suspension was requested and also for recording a transaction processing stage arrived at when the transaction suspension was requested, and an unreleased medium storing unit. When a transaction suspension is requested, a transaction resumption procedure is guided by the operation guide and, based on this transaction resumption procedure, the suspended transaction processing is resumed from the transaction processing stage recorded in the transaction recording unit by using the transaction information recorded in the transaction recording unit to release the transaction media stored in the unreleased medium storing unit.
A passbook printer has a print head movable along a printing station and in opposed relation to a platen for printing data on the passbook. The printer has an optical reading head assembly which is movable independent of the print head and in a direction of the path of the passbook past the printing station. The optical reading head assembly is positioned at the printing station for reading page and line information from the passbook and then is moved to a position adjacent the printing station for permitting the print head to freely move along the printing station.
