A standing support having a truncated lower horizontal side frame member has an extension flange mounted thereon to laterally displace the drive wheel assembly outward relative the side frame member to widen the rear facing cavity defined therebetween. A cantilevered floor pan configuration removes transverse obstructions between the side frame members to allow the further longitudinal insertion of a conventional wheelchair within the cavity therebetween. A hand crank assembly mounted to the main frame aids in the transfer of the handicapped user from the conventional wheelchair to the improved standing support of the present invention.
A portable mobile stand for a human which uses a pair of side member assemblies with a vertical support member being mounted therebetween. A human occupying compartment is located in the space provided between the side member assemblies. The vertical support member assembly includes a knee support pad and a hip support pad with a buttocks strap being connectable between the side member assemblies and locatable against the buttocks of the human user. A chest support pad is mounted on a support bar with this support bar being pivotally movably mounted on the vertical support member. This support bar is lockable at any one of various positions relative to the vertical support member. Each side member assembly includes a hand engagable handle with these handles being deflectable to a vertical out-of-the-way position. When these handles are located in the horizontal/usable position, such are locked in position. The support bar has a sleeve telescopicingly mounted thereon with movement of this sleeve relative to the support bar unfixes the support bar relative to the vertical support member and permits pivoting of the support bar.
A lifting mechanism, on a carriage assembly, supports a body support assembly to lift transport and thereafter set down a person. A back safety belt, carried by a pair of belt support holders, provides a first body support. The holders must be disposed in slots defined by "C" shaped members carried by arms carried by the lifting mechanism, before a leg support device can be hung from rivets carried by the holders. The leg support device is disposed beneath the person's legs proximate their knees and includes a board supported at its ends by clevises hung from the rivets, and a belt or belts passed over a person's legs and belted in place; and constitutes a second body support. A chest support device, constituting a third body support, is also carried by the lifting mechanism and is disposed to receive thereagainst the chest of a person being lifted, transported and lowered. The leg support device cannot be utilized unless the back support device is in place. In an alternative embodiment the chest support is spring biased and pivotally mounted to coact with a locking lever which includes a finger projecting into the path of disposition of at least one back support holder to prevent disposition thereof and hanging of the leg support device, unless force is applied to the chest support device as by a person leaning thereagainst. Another embodiment provides for adjustment of the chest support device between six degree and forty-five degree positions; while a still further embodiment provides screw adjustable spacing of carriage frame members.
Accessibility means for achieving the assisted passage of a person using a wheelchair, while in the chair, over a barrier including a pair of spaced-apart pathways which permit the transit of an assistant between the pathways as the assistant assists the wheelchair and occupant over the barrier.
An apparatus for holding beverage containers and other articles is provided. The apparatus includes two cylindrically shaped receptacles with a channel formed therebetween. The receptacles and channel are formed by a generally planar back wall that is substantially tangent to both receptacles, two arcuate side walls, and a front wall. The channel is off-set away from the lateral centerline of the apparatus to allow for reception of pencils, letters, note pads, and other such objects into the apparatus at the same time as beverage containers.
