A magnetic tape device is disclosed, which includes a magnetic head, a rotating drum on which the magnetic head is mounted, a head assembly on which the rotating drum is mounted, a drum base to which the head assembly is fixed, a pair of tape guide catchers provided on opposite sides of the drum base, and a deck base to which the drum base is fixed. The deck base includes tape guide holes, and tape guides are adapted to be moved along the tape guide holes for drawing out a magnetic tape in a cassette and bringing the magnetic tape into contact with the rotating drum. The catchers catch the tape guides, and are integrally formed with the drum base by outsert molding of resin. Both the drum base and the deck base are formed from sheet metal. The magnetic tape device can be manufactured at a low cost, and no error in positional relationship between the drum base and the deck base occurs due to temperature fluctuations.

A unitary guide body which includes structural elements for tape loading and unloading, particularly for use in a VCR deck, which is constructed to include as a part of the unitary guide body a pair of guide grooves for guiding a pair of slant bases acting to load a tape to a drum, a guide groove formed adjacent to one of the slant base guide grooves for guiding a tape guide roller, stoppers disposed adjacent to leading ends of the guide groove to position the slant bases and the guide roller, a drum receiving recess for slantly mounting a drum at an inclination angle of a given angle, a plurality of drum fastening holes, a shaft for an I-shaped roller, and a main slant post, which provide for an enhanced production rate of the elements forming parts of the unitary guide body while overall product quality is maintained.

An apparatus for recording and/or reproducing information on or from a tape by drawing out the tape contained in a cassette and bringing the tape into contact with a head, has a chassis and a base which are integrally formed, a slider provided with a member for drawing out the tape, the chassis having a reference surface. The base is provided with a positioning portion for positioning the slider. The positioning portion has a side which is formed in substantially parallel with a virtual line perpendicular to the reference surface of the chassis, or which is inclined away from the virtual line in the direction away from the reference surface of the chassis.

A full erasing head unit disposed on a deck chassis of a video cassette recorder includes a full erasing head, a base plate for mounting the full erasing head thereon in such a way that the full erasing head comes into contact with a traveling tape, the base member movably disposed on the deck chassis, a resilient member for exerting an elastic force on the base plate, a pin provided at the deck chassis and coming into contact with the resilient member in such a way that the resilient member biased by a tape tension is allowed to return to an initial position thereof, thereby additionally performing the role of the impedance roller.

In a rotary head drum device for use in a video tape recorder or the like, a motor is provided between a rotating drum and a fixed drum. A drum base has at least three supporting surfaces for supporting the head drum. The supporting surfaces are formed at positions substantially equally spaced from a center of a rotating shaft fixed to the rotating drum and substantially equally spaced from each other. A single screw for fixing the fixed drum to the drum base is threaded into the fixed drum in the vicinity of the rotating shaft. With this construction, quality can be improved, and cost can be reduced.
