Abstract
The invention provides a device for joining two skis together, which is readily removable with the skis on the feet, including a connection means formed by a bar of variable length, with fittings at both its ends for articulating through several degrees of freedom, themselves connected to the ski tips by fastening-unfastening fittings formed by a male part and a female part secured to the articulation fitting and the other to the ski tips. The parts are lockable-unlockable by fitting together, then rotation by a particular amplitude, about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the ski tips, of the part secure to the articulation fitting characterized in that the articulation fitting are formed by a piece in the form of a diabolo or similar shape, made from a resilient material, at least one of the ends is mounted for swiveling and in that the connection bar is formed of a rod with ends of enlarged diameter sliding freely in cylindrical sleeves connected to one of the ends of the diabolo shaped piece.

5551728 - Gliding board - Owned by silvretta-sherpas Sportartikel GmbH (Rothschwaige,DE)

A gliding board, in particular a snowboard, which is formed by two skis and a central part connected by fittings, has a clamping device in the central region. The skis can be clamped against one another by the clamping device accompanied by deformation in the transverse direction so that the gliding board can be adjusted to a desired sidecut radius.

5660416 - Clamping device for a multiple-part gliding board, in particular snowboard - Owned by silvretta-sherpas Sportartikel GmbH (Karlsfeld,DE)

The clamping device for connecting a snowboard formed from two skis and a center part has a connection member which is supported on the center part so as to be swivelable around a swivel pin, this connection part having hooks formed at its ends which define corresponding receiving openings. Hardware fittings are arranged on the skis, wherein a movable hardware part is supported on a hardware part that is held on the ski in a stationary manner. Each movable hardware part has an eccentric with which hooks cooperate so as to effect a clamping after the rotation of the movable hardware parts and the compulsory rotation of the eccentrics.

5089240 - Catalytic lens sterilizing system - Owned by Ciba Vision Corporation (Atlanta, GA)

An appliance for sterilizing contact lenses or the like includes a reaction vessel for containing the lenses in sterilizing contact with hydrogen peroxide solution and two catalytic elements for decomposing the hydrogen peroxide during the lens sterilization. The first catalytic element decomposes a portion of the initial concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the solution during the lens sterilization, and the second catalytic element accelerates combined decomposition of the reduced concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the solution resulting from decomposition by the first catalytic element, in order to achieve sufficiently reduced terminal hydrogen peroxide concentration at completion of the lens sterilization for safe contact by the eyes of a wearer with residues of hydrogen peroxide at the terminal concentration which may adhere to the sterilized lenses.

6648347 - Two-piece snowboard for controlled movement on snow or other glidable media

A two-piece snowboard for controlled movement on snow and other media for gliding, comprising front and rear gliding members having binding devices for holding feet. A connecting device couples the front and rear gliding members. The connective device includes first and second connecting elements connected to one of the gliding members. In various embodiments at least one of the first and second connecting elements is rigid, and the further connecting element is able to rotate in at least one plane. Additionally, or alternatively, at least one of the first and second connecting elements includes at least two bearing elements. The bearing elements provide for movement about the horizontal axis transverse to a direction of travel and/or movement about the vertical axes of the bearing elements, and also provide for connection to the gliding members. The first and second connecting elements and the bearing elements are provided with a restoring torque.

6523851 - Binding mechanism for a touring snowboard - Owned by The Burton Corporation (Burlington, VT)

A binding mechanism is used to securely couple board sections of a touring snowboard together. The binding mechanism includes a first interface mounted to at least one of first and second board sections and a second interface mounted to the base. A clamp is mounted to the first or second interface and is movable between a closed configuration, wherein the interfaces are adapted to engage with each other, and an open configuration wherein the interfaces are adapted to release each other. When in the open configuration, an amount of clearance exists between the interfaces. When the clamp is moved to the closed configuration, the amount of clearance is decreased to securely join the board sections together. The clamp may also exert a clamping force in at least two non-parallel directions to draw the board sections together. The clamp may also be employed to mount a snowboard boot binding to the board sections when in a snowboard mode, or to one of the board sections when in ascension mode.
