Abstract
A package for transporting a glass slide which carries a specimen for laboratory analysis makes use of a particularly light-weight yieldable material of the nature of Styrofoam. A thin base sheet of the material is provided with a rectangular recess slightly smaller than the glass slide and into which the slide may be pressed. Three edges of the base are each provided with a ridge leaving a fourth edge clear and a thin cover sheet of the same Styrofoam material fits snugly within the ridges where it is yieldably held in position covering the glass slide.

5292000 - Holder for medical specimen slide

A holder for packaging a biological specimen slide is heat formed from a single sheet of plastic, with tray and cover portions foldable to a closed condition along a hinge line. A window opening in the cover portion allows viewing of identification markings on a slide in the closed holder. The window is initially closed by an integrally formed push-out panel which is removed upon use of the holder as a flag of previous usage of the holder to prevent its unintentional reuse.

5133450 - Pressure fit card

A snap-type holder is described for collecting baseball, basketball, football, or other type sports cards. The holder includes a clear plastic bottom plate having a recess just slightly larger than the card to be placed therein, so as to correlate with card manufacturing tolerances. A clear plastic top plate snaps tight over the bottom plate by a pressure fit resulting from clearance specifications of 0.001-0.002" so as to seal the card against moisture, dirt and ambient air, and so as to secure the holder if it were accidentally dropped, thereby protecting the sports card from damage. A notch is provided in the holder to allow separation of the top and bottom plates when it is desired to remove the card for replacement.

5090568 - Glass slide mailer - Owned by Medscand (U.S.A.), Inc. (Hollywood, FL)

A glass slide mailer formed of one piece of molded, resilient polymeric material and comprising a base, a cover, and a living hinge section, the base and cover being pivoted about the hinge section and snap-fitted together at two areas to retain the slide therein. The base has a rectangular cavity for receiving the slide defined by first and second end walls, a pair of side walls, and a bottom wall, and the cover has a first protrusion frictionally engageable with the first end wall and the two side walls of the base and a second protrusion frictionally engageable with the second end wall and the two side walls of the base to snap-fit the cover to the base to retain the slide therein. In the closed position, the first protrusion engages the glass slide to resist relative movement thereof. The side walls have notches for ease of applying a tissue sample to the slide mounted in the mailer. The cover and base have reinforcing transverse and longitudinal ribs, as well as peripheral lips to aid in opening the mailer.

6006911 - Specimen slide holder with integral closure fastener

A holder for medical specimen slides is made of a single sheet of corrugated cardboard cut and folded to make a tray portion and a cover portion hinged to each other for holding one or more slides therebetween. The holder features a tab integral with the cover which is pressed into a cutout in the tray portion to secure the holder in closed condition without need for external fasteners such as adhesive tape.

6019222 - Apparatus and kit for examining a specimen

The invention relates to apparatus for examining a flake of a painting, wall, ceiling or the like, comprising a body and receptacle in the body for receiving the flake, the receptacle having a flat base, and the body including a receptacle for an identification which is offset from the well. The body is transparent, is polished and is cuttable to expose an internal surface of the flake for examination. Thus the characteristics of the flake can be assessed, which is useful in restoration work. The invention may be put up in a kit.
