A body construction for a drilling machine comprising a body provided with end covers, a percussion means mounted in the body, and a rotation means positioned on an axial extension of the percussion means for rotating a shank. In order to avoid the use of conventional tie rods, the body is formed by an integral body part, and housings for the percussion and the rotation means are formed in the body part in such a way that the percussion and the rotation means can be replaced through the corresponding end covers without having to detach from the body anything else but the end covers of the body part.
A rock drill which includes a main body with a chamber which is formed in the main body at a first end of the main body, and a rotation module which includes a gear housing, at least the gear housing being mounted in the chamber.
A rock drill includes a mounting frame to which a hammering apparatus and a rotating apparatus is arranged. The mounting frame is made maneuverable with respect to a feeding beam by means of slide blocks fastened to it, whereby a separate carriage is not needed between the drill and the feeding beam. Owing to the mounting frame, the hammering apparatus and/or the rotating apparatus can be replaceable modules. The invention further relates to a mounting frame which is arranged to transmit the feed and recoil forces directed to the drill to feeding means. The mounting frame comprises a section parallel to the feeding beam, to which slide blocks are fastened, and a transverse axial support thereto, to which the hammering apparatus and the rotating apparatus are mounted.
A rotary percussion drill for mining, rock drilling and similar operations is provided. The drill combines a rotation portion with a percussion portion to impart a simultaneous rotational and reciprocating percussive action to the drill steel or other working element. The frequency of the percussive impact can be varied to drill efficiently rock of different hardness by changing the cross-sectional cam configuration of a camshaft which activates a reciprocating piston imparting percussive action to the drill steel or other working element.
