Abstract
An apparatus for elevating and lowering a freestanding seating structure, such as a house chair, recliner, or sofa. The apparatus is comprised of a base, an elevator assembly, a power assembly connected between the base and the elevator assembly, and a control assembly. The elevator assembly releasably receives, supports, elevates and lowers the seating structure. The power assembly provides power and supportingly moves the elevator assembly. The control assembly controls the power assembly and the position of the elevator assembly relative to the base. The invention also includes riser arms which are pivotally connected between the base and the elevator assembly for structurally supporting the stabilizing the elevator assembly.

7090297 - Heavy lift chair - Owned by La-Z-Boy Incorporated (Monroe, MI)

A power-assisted heavy lift chair comprises a base assembly. A chair frame is supported on the base assembly. A lift mechanism communicates with the base assembly and the chair frame, and is operable to actuate the chair frame between first and second positions. A transformer provides electrical power to an electric motor. The electric motor provides rotational power to the lift mechanism at a first rate to lift and/or lower the chair frame. The electric motor draws current from the transformer according to a load upon the chair frame. The rate that the electric motor lifts and/or lowers the chair frame depends upon the voltage provided by the transformer. The transformer is operable to provide a generally constant voltage regardless of the current draw of the electric motor. Therefore, the electric motor lifts and/or lowers the chair at a constant rate independent of the load on the chair.

5024486 - All-purpose rocking, swiveling, reclining, and lifting chair

The present invention provides for a power operated chair that can be operated in a rock and swivel, recline, or lift mode or any combination thereof. The chair is specifically designed to prevent the rocking and swiveling motion when the occupant is using the lift or recline features of the chair. The chair uses a recline mechanical linkage and a seat lift mechanical linkage that are mechanically linked by a guide roller in a guide channel which permits the use of a single drive motor and provides for a smooth transition from the recline mode to the lift mode. The guide roller and guide channel also prevent the inadvertent lifting of the seat if the back of the chair is forcibly reclined.

5155873 - Electrically operated lift stool

A lift stool for use in conjunction with removable pot or a stationary toilet bowl is provided to assist disabled person in being lowered toward a seated position and elevated back up to a standing position and the lift stool includes elevated arms rests which may be swung upwardly to out of the way positions to enable a person to assist a more seriously disabled person in using the lift stool, a control for raising and lowering the associated toilet seat being mounted from one of the free swinging ends of the upwardly swingable arms rests and the lift stool including support wheels normally spaced slightly above a horizontal surface upon which the lift stool rests and over and onto which the lift stool may be rearwardly tilted to a position in which the raised armrests may be used as handlebars for manually rolling the lift stool over a floor surface.

5695248 - Retrofit adjustable seat
