Abstract
A golf club measuring device has clamping means for retaining a head of a golf club in a fixed reference position and measuring means for measuring the loft and/or lie of the club. The clamping means comprise a first jaw for clamping a striking face of the club head against a first reference surface and a second jaw for clamping a sole of the club head against a second reference surface. The device is conveniently designed to be able to measure the loft and/or lie of both right- and left-handed golf clubs.

6415671 - Pneumatic golf club testing machine

A golf bombarding testing machine, which is mainly composed of a golf shooting apparatus, a club holding device, a ball-head holding device, a vibration-reducing device, a ball cage and a machine frame. By the club holding device or the ball-head holding device to fix the club or the ball-head, and by the application of the golf shooting apparatus to shoot out a golf which then hits the ball-head of the said club will reach the double functions of quick test for the ball-head or the connection strength between the club and the ball-head. Furthermore, by the installation of the vibration-reducing device, may greatly reduce the club's vibration caused by the hit on the ball-head and conduct the next test of hitting as soon as possible to increase the number of test in an unit time period.

6449860 - Golf club measuring apparatus

A golf club measuring apparatus for measuring the face progression, lie angle, loft angle of a face includes a base having a flat top reference surface, and a club-holding assembly pivotally mounted on the base for pivotal movement. A shaft of a golf club is grasped by the club-holding assembly with a space kept from the reference plane. An orientation of an iron club is regulated by a club face regulator while an orientation of a wooden club is regulated by a measuring piece.

6363620 - Apparatus and method for measuring the loft angle and the lie angle of a golf club - Owned by Callaway Golf Company (CA)

The present invention is an apparatus and method for measuring the loft angle and the lie angle of a golf club. The present invention allows for comparisons to known values, and removes operator bias from the measurements. The apparatus has an encoder assembly with a loft mechanism and a lie mechanism. The encoder assembly is capable of five axial movements. The apparatus has securing means for securing a golf club in an address position during measurement of the loft angle and the lie angle.

6482101 - Method of and apparatus for adjusting loft and lie angles of golf clubs

To adjust loft and lie angles of golf clubs, a laser beam projector is mounted coaxially in a bore of a golf club head hosel, a laser beam projected, and the hosel is bent in a single direction until the beam aligns with a target or mark placed on a fixed surface which has a predetermined relationship to a clamp for the club head. Each club head is clamped in a predetermined position relative to its face and sole and the clamp is mounted in a predetermined relationship relative to the target surface. The target is arranged coaxially with the desired end position of the hosel axis. The projector is mounted in the hosel bore by means of an expanding collet which is inserted into and then snuggly aligned internally and coaxially in the hosel bore. Depending on the direction and the amount the projected beam is misaligned from the target, a hosel bending tool is placed on the hosel and the tool is moved in a single motion and direction opposite to the misalignment direction until the projected beam and target are brought into the desired end alignment. Multiple targets related to each club may be used to achieve standard, high or low trajectory loft from a set of clubs according to the desires of a particular player.

5421098 - Apparatus for adjusting golf club loft and lie

An apparatus for adjusting the loft and lie of a golf club head. The invention includes three components. The first is a fitting gauge removably attachable to the shaft for identifying the ideal angles of the loft and lie of the club. The fitting gauge includes a first indicator for measuring the loft angle and a second indicator for measuring the lie angle. The second component of the invention is a bench to which the golf club head is attached. The bench includes a lie reading gauge and a loft reading gauge. The bench may be used for either left-handed golf clubs or for right-handed golf clubs. The third component is an adjusting tool that may be removably attached to the hosel of the club fixed to the bench. The shaft of the club is manipulated relative to the golf club head to adjust the actual lie and loft angles to match the ideal angles of loft and lie by movement of the adjusting tool.
