A system for announcing operating conditions of a plant includes an identifying unit identifying plant site operating conditions on the basis of information signals indicative of the operating conditions at plate sites at the plant site, a voice message signal generating unit determining plant site operating instruction signals on the basis of the identified plant operating conditions and converting the determined instruction signals into corresponding voice message signals, a voice message signal output unit, and a voice message announcing order selection unit including a memory for temporarily storing the voice message signals, an announcing order determining unit for determining the order of announcement of the stored voice message signals, and an output selecting unit for sequentially applying the stored voice message signals to the message signal output unit in the determined order.
In a data processing system having plural processes being executed concurrently thereon, with each process producing audio responses, there is provided a method and system for synchronizing the audio responses so that only one process at a time "speaks" to a user through an audio output device. The audio responses of a process are intercepted by a sequencer which determines if the audio output device is available for accessing. If the audio output device is available, then the sequencer provides the intercepted audio responses to the audio output device. If the audio output device is not available, then the sequencer delays the provision of the audio responses until the audio output device becomes available. Furthermore, notification is given to the user so that the particular process which is speaking through the audio output device can be identified. Notification can be by aural characteristics, such as frequency or pitch, or by graphically displaying the identifying information to the user.
A computer-based method for voice alarming in measuring a workpiece is provided. The method includes the steps of: configuring message commands; configuring triggering events that execute the message commands; measuring the workpiece; detecting whether any predetermined event is triggered when the workpiece is being measured; and executing the message commands by invoking speech synthesizers if the corresponding triggering event is detected. A related system is also disclosed.
The names of a plurality of instruments connected to a bus are displayed on a screen. An operator presses a mode selection switch, so that one of the names of the plurality of electrical instruments displayed on the screen of the monitor can be selected. A controller selectively displays the name on the screen selected by the mode selection switch. The operator can operate the instrument corresponding to the name on the screen selected by the mode selection switch with using a direction key.
An on-line real time process monitoring system determines not only the existence of a plurality of trouble conditions but also which condition from the plurality should be responded to first. Appropriate display screens are then selected and displayed for the operator to assist in resolution of the problem.
In a multimedia information and control system for use in an automobile, at least one interface is employed which enables a user to access information concerning the automobile and control vehicle functions in an efficient manner. The user may select one of a plurality of displayed options on a screen of such an interface. Through audio, video and/or text media, the user is provided with information concerning the selected option and the vehicle function corresponding thereto. Having been so informed, the user may activate the selected option to control the corresponding vehicle function.
