An alarm timepiece the internal movements and electronic components of which can be arranged and accommodated more efficiently in that the alarm diaphragm with a piezo-electric element attached thereto is obliquely mounted within the frame of the timepiece to lean from the bottom of the timepiece frame against a rising part of the side of the frame. This arrangement taken in conjunction with a sound emitting opening situated between the outer circumference of the bottom and the rising part of the frame of the timepiece provide an unobstructed path for the alarm sound while taking advantage of otherwise vacant space within the internal movement and electronic component compartment of the timepiece.

A musical tone generating apparatus employs an array of microresonant structures to generate the harmonic component signals of a musical tone to be generated. The microresonant structures produce high frequency signals which are down converted to audio frequency range by mixing them with a high frequency reference signal. The desired tone color is achieved by modifying the relative amplitudes of the harmonic component signals to produce a desired tone color. A large number of microresonators are preferably integrated on a single integrated circuit substrate to provide a variable tone generating system in a relatively compact environment.
The present invention concerns a water-resistant portable apparatus including a case in which there is mounted an electroacoustic transducer separated from an inlet cavity in a water-resistant manner by a deformable membrane. This inlet cavity is arranged in said case in direct communication with the exterior. The electroacoustic transducer and the inlet cavity are arranged collaterally such that at least one part of said transducer, respectively of the cavity, of a determined thickness is arranged in the same slice of the case and in that an acoustic channel connects the transducer to the membrane to transmit acoustic vibrations.
A watch case for a digital or analog watch assembly. The watch case includes a body, a time display element, an electronic speaker unit for generating musical or other acoustical sounds, and an aperture formed in the body which communicates with the speaker. Significantly, the aperture is sized so that the quality sound (e.g., music and voices) emitted therethrough from said speaker unit is clearer and more understandable than has been available heretofore.
