For converting a lamp with a screw-type base into a lamp with a bi-pin base, there is provided a cup-shaped adapter of electrical insulating material comprising a tubular body containing a bore that has internal threads threadedly receiving the external threads on the usual metal shell of the screw-type base. The adapter further comprises an end wall extending across the bore at one end of the tubular body and carrying two conductive pins extending through the end wall in laterally-spaced relation. First conductor within the adapter connected to one pin has a free end that engages the usual coniform end of the metal shell when the base is threaded into said bore, thereby establishing an electrical connection between the metal shell and said one pin. Second conductor connected to the other pin establishes an electrical connection between the usual eyelet of the base and the other pin when the base is threaded into said bore.
The electric lamp has a hollow body (20) of synthetic material in its lamp cap (6), which screens a current supply conductor (11) extending to a base contact member (8) of the lamp cap from the shell portion (13) of the lamp cap (6). The body (20) has projections (22) distributed over it, which bear with clamping fit on the shell portion (13).
The present invention relates to low-pressure discharge lamp having a discharge tube filled with mercury and a noble gas, sealed in a gas-tight manner and provided with electrodes at its ends and having a cap connected to the discharge tube and contact components for connection to a power supply, the discharge tube ends containing the electrodes are arranged adjacent to each other, the electrode-side ends of the discharge tube are fixed--e.g. by means of an adhesive--in the cap, at least a portion of the electrode leads is fixed in the holes of the connecting part of the cap and is connected to conduct electric current, with at least a part of the contact components protruding from the outer side of the connecting part. According to the invention the contact components (1) are completed with connecting extensions (1a) located in the inner space (2a) of the cap (2), at least a part of the leads (4a) is fixed to the connecting extensions (1a) of the contact components (1) and the joint (5) between the leads (4a ) and the connecting extensions (1a) is also arranged in the inner space (2a) of the cap (2).
A lampsocket is provided with a body having an extension both of which contain a continuous bore of a first predetermined diameter dimension to prevent the seating and electrical connection of an electrical lamp having a neck dimension in excess of first predetermined dimension to thereby reject inappropriate lamps and only permit the seating and electrical connection of suitable lamps.
A method for the attachment of electrical components to circuit boards where the electrical components are enclosed by a housing and held in place by a retaining device. The method enables a smaller and more compact construction for switching devices. The connection of the electrical components with the housing enclosing them creates a additional point for the absorption of thermal and mechanical stresses in addition to the connection with the circuit board.
A hard disk assembly comprises a hub made of injection molded liquid crystal plastic, to which is mounted a magnetic disk by a twist-lock screw top. The expensive step of machining the critical hub component is avoided because sufficient accuracies can be achieved with the liquid crystal plastic when injection molded.
