This invention is directed to a golf club head surveying instrument includes a bottom block, a quarter circle scale plate, an adjusting frame, a V-shaped block, a balance block, a slide block, and a rectangular block. The adjusting frame is fixed to the scale plate with its rear end, the V-shaped block is mounted on the adjusting frame and arranged to provide a clamping element for holding a golf club. An adjusting knob is provided with the scale plate for angular adjusting. The slide block is mounted on the balance block to support the rectangular block. The rectangular block is arranged to provide a trifurcate balance board for balance checking of the head of the golf club to be tested. The present invention is useful in helping golf club manufacturers to check and correct the percentage of inclination of the head, distributors to assemble golf clubs, and golf players to adjust the angle of the golf club to fit in with ones preference in driving a golf ball.
A gauge for measuring the loft and lie angles of a golf club includes a rod attachable to the golf club with a first pointer mechanism being in alignment with the shaft axis of the golf club. A body is rotatable about the rod into parallel alignment with the sole of the golf club and a first indicator plate is movable with the body and relative to the first pointer mechanism to provide a visual indication of the lie angle of the golf club by showing the angle of rotation of the indicator plate relative to the first pointer mechanism. A face engaging member is pivotally mounted on the body for movement into engagement with the face of the golf club, and a second pointer mechanism is movable with the face engaging member relative to a second indicator plate carried on the body to provide a visual indication of the loft angle of the golf club by showing the angle of rotation of the second pointer mechanism relative to the second indicator plate.
An apparatus for measuring the length, lie and loft of a golf club includes a base having a flat top surface and a pivot plate which is pivotally mounted relative to the base for pivoting movement about a pivot axis which lies in the plane of the flat top surface of the base. The shaft of the club is held by the pivot plate so that the centerline of the shaft is perpendicular to the pivot axis and passes through the pivot axis.
A device for clamping a golf club to a base including a clamping mechanism adapted to clamp the face of the golf club at a predetermined angle with respect to the base, and a measuring mechanism including at least a loft scale operational in combination with the clamping mechanism wherein the loft scale is pivotable about an axis parallel to the club face, further including measuring scales for reading loft angles of the club and optionally including scales for measuring the lie angle of the club.
