Disclosed is a system and method for measuring the emotional response of a subject to a chosen focus in order to reliably produce objective data representing that emotional response. The subject is put in contact with the chosen focus, and the emotional response of that subject to the chosen focus is determined in order to provide initial response emotions and the intensities of these emotions. The intensity of these same emotions without attention directed to the chosen focus is also evaluated in order to provide tabulated baseline intensities. Utilizing the initial response emotion intensities and the baseline emotion intensities, clarified emotion intensities are determined for use in a variety of decision making applications.
A self-sufficient sentic cycler unit usable by a subject to generate and express emotions as an art form of touch and in doing so to overcome inhibitive and repressive tendencies, and to relieve stress and dissipate anxiety. The unit includes a solid-state memory having digitally stored therein a set of words representing different emotions, such as love or anger, as well as a click or other command signal instructing the subject to tactilely express the emotion represented by the word selected from the memory. The memory is controlled by a clock and a programmed microprocessor to produce a sentic cycle in the course of which words are selected from the set in a predetermined sequence, each selected word being followed by a series of time-spaced clicks. The digital output of the memory is converted into an analog signal that is reproduced so that it can be heard by the subject. The unit is provided with a finger rest which is to be pressed by the subject who after hearing a selected word then hears a command click in the click series following the word. The subject, after hearing each click, then exerts finger pressure on the finger rest in a manner expressive of the emotion evoked by the word.
New educational cards for teaching emotional expressions, for assisting children with recognizing emotions, thoughts, and actions in daily life. The inventive device includes a first plurality of cards having words disposed thereon representing personal attributes, and a second plurality of cards having words disposed thereon representing societal attributes. The first and second plurality of cards further include a symbol to indicate whether the personal attributes and societal attributes are positive or negative attributes. The cards also include additional symbols thereon to indicate an emotional intensity level of the attributes and a level of self-esteem associated with the attributes.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method of evaluating emotional intelligence through emotional intelligence quotient testing. There are four levels of the emotional mind and each level is assigned a grade. A series of questions are asked on specific emotions, and answers are graded according to the mental level these answers are coming from. This test enables an individual to learn where he or she stands with respect to each specific emotion.
A representational figure having a receptacle therein is employed to diagnose and treat a psychological trauma in a child. In response to questions, the child selects a plurality of objects which are representative kof either the nature or intensity of emotional feelings and inserts them into the receptacle where they can be observed by the practitioner treating the child.
Disclosed is a computer-assisted method for classifying a text document according to emotion and affect. A score is assigned to each affect term in the document. An affect score is computed for the document from the scores for each affect term. The document is then classified in accordance with the affect score. An apparatus for performing the computer-assisted method is also disclosed.
