A method and machine for forming a case with polygonal section from a blank of sheet material. There is an assembly of panels. The assembly of panels is wound about a mandrel with polygonal section. The tongue is fixed to the free edge of the endmost panel. The flaps situated on the same side of the panels are folded. The flaps thus folded are fixed together.
Packaging of card or corrugated cardboard in the form of a basket and for the purpose of packaging loads such as rows of bottles. According to the invention the cover of said package is formed by two upsidedown trapezium-section gutters that are engaged one in the other, enabling said cover to be formed accurately regardless of the kind and/or shape of the load. A machine is also provided for enabling such packages to be closed on a continuous basis as they pass through the machine towards an outlet therefrom.
A pack made of sheet material such as card or corrugated card has rectangular side faces that are interconnected in pairs by respective fold lines, said fold lines being mutually parallel and said side faces forming a rectangular parallelepiped. According to the invention this pack is remarkable in that it includes other side faces that form a pyramid whose base coincides with a face of said parallelepiped. The pack is obtained from a blank of sheet material that includes trapezium-shaped or triangular panels hinged to rectangular panels.
A case, made from a sheet material such as cardboard or corrugated board, having rectangular lateral faces connected in twos by a fold line. The fold lines are parallel to each other. Such a case comprises at least five lateral faces. It may be obtained by wrapping a sheet material blank about a mandrel in cooperation with a pressure plate whose profile corresponds to that of two or three consecutive faces of the mandrel.
Box of sheet material, such as cardboard or corrugated cardboard, including square or rectangular lateral faces, in pairs, connected by a folding line. The folding lines are mutually parallel and the lateral faces forming a right-angled parallelepiped (pa). This box includes other lateral faces forming a pyramid (py) adjoined by its base to the parallelepiped. It is obtained from a blank of sheet material including triangular or trapezoidal panels hinged to rectangular or square panels.
A method and apparatus for producing blanks to form into cartons, boxes or the like from a continuous sheet, the carton having a substantially tubular shaped part which, in cross-section, has three or more sides, the blank including continuous, sequentially disposed portions which will provide carton side parts and flap parts at one or both of the ends of the tubular carton side part at some or each of the side parts, the ends of the tubular carton part being closed by the flap parts. A sheet or blank of required shape is produced using a fixture with a longitudinal extension that corresponds to the longitudinal extension of the tubular carton part and has a cross-sectional outer profile which corresponds to the cross-sectional profile of the tubular carton part. An edge part of a material sheet of at least the required size for a blank is attached to the fixture preferably along a longitudinally extending corner part of the fixture, the corner part forming a demarcation line between two adjacent side parts of the carton blank and at which line the sheet is folded, and the side parts wrapped around the fixture in the tubular carton part configuration with flap parts which are a continuation of the carton side parts. The fixture can be used as a template when it is necessary to cut and remove excess parts of the sheet attached to and formed around the fixture.
