An ice fishing device, including: a base, the base defining an aperture; a reel connected to the base; a pulley disposal to the reel and connected to the base; an ice removal coil disposed distal to the reel, fishing line connected to the reel and disposed about the pulley; mechanism for indicating a fish, the indicating mechanism connected to the base and in operable communication with the pulley; mechanism for heating, the heating mechanism being sized to be snugly received within the aperture, being contained in the aperture, being supported by the base, being electrically powered, being selectively removable, and being a bobber; and mechanism for regulating the heat.

An ice fishing rig for retarding reformation of ice and the method of using the same, the ice fishing rig having a heat supply joined to a heat dispensing shaft, an ice fishing line being fed through the heat dispensing shaft, and the heat dispensing shaft being floated adjacent the surface of water in an ice fishing hole.

A combination summer-and-winter tip-up fishing rig is provided which may be used on the ice in winter weather and on open water in summer weather. The rig has an inverted dish-like body of light weight insulating and floating material, a flagpole, a spring means on said body at one edge thereof urging the flagpole to an upright position. The body has a top deck and a perimeter side wall extending down from the top deck, to form a hollow interior, divided by walls into a large cavity and a small cavity. A fishline reel spool is rotatably mounted in the large cavity with its vertical shaft extending through the top deck. The shaft has a horizontal arm above the deck which extends over the flagpole to hold the flagpole nearly horizontal in the fishing mode, and which turns to release the flagpole to the upright tipped-up mode when a fish strikes. A cotter pin may be swivel-mounted to the underside of the top deck centrally thereof extending down therefrom. An eye bolt may be mounted to the underside of the top deck intermediate the reel spool and the cotter pin. A fishline coiled about the reel spool may be, for smaller fish, fed through the eye bolt and then down into the water. For larger fish, the line is set into the cotter pin grip to extend therefrom down into the water.

A device used to maintain a hole formed in the ice for ice fishing. When placed over the hole, this invention forms a therm-protection between the hole and the surrounding harsh environment protecting the open water in the hole from crystallizing and ultimately freezing over. This device utilizes the natural temperature differences between the unfrozen water and the surrounding air and combines it with emitted radiation (naturally, electrically, chemically, or with petroleum-based products). Examples of this emitted radiation are the sun, a battery-powered heater, light source and a propane or similar type heater. An example of a chemical reaction device would be a hand warmer. Addition of any or all of the above will increase the efficiency of this invention. This device allows for adaptability to fishing conditions and fishing devices ranging from a simple rod and reel to complicated fish locators as well as a variety of tip-ups.

An ice fishing apparatus includes a housing that includes a peripheral wall having an upper edge and a lower edge. A covering is positioned on the upper edge. The covering has an aperture extending therethrough. A fishing reel is attached to the cover adjacent to the aperture. A flexible post is attached to the cover and is positioned for being engaged to the reel such that the post is released from the reel when the reel rotates in a first direction. A plate is attached to an inner surface of the peripheral wall and extends away therefrom such that the plate is horizontally orientated. A heat emitter is removably positionable in the housing. The heat emitter is positioned on the plate. The housing is positioned over the ice opening so that the heat emitter warms an interior of the housing and prevents ice from forming over the ice opening.
