5586817 - Drawer interlock apparatus - Owned by Pitney Bowes Inc. (Stamford, CT)

An interlock mechanism is provided for a document handler having a pair of drawers for storing documents to prevent the simultaneous extension of more than one of the drawers. The drawer interlock apparatus comprises a frame and a longitudinal rail mounted to a side wall of each drawer. Each rail has a pair of substantially L-shaped stops and a locating notch positioned between the stops. A locking mechanism is pivotally mounted to the frame. The locking mechanism is slideably engaged with the rail of each drawer for preventing the simultaneous extension of the multiple drawers. Each drawer also has link mechanisms for adjusting drawer alignment to meet document registration requirements.

5542759 - Shock absorbing disconnect latch for drawer slides - Owned by Snap-on Technologies, Inc. (Crystal Lake, IL)

A disconnect latch is provided for use with a drawer slide assembly of the type including an elongated drawer member and a stopper for limiting longitudinal travel of the elongated drawer member. The disconnect latch includes the unitarily formed combination of a lever, a mounting section for non-pivotally coupling the disconnect latch to the elongated drawer member, and a main body portion integral with the lever at one end thereof and with the mounting section at the opposite end thereof. The main body portion includes a stop surface for maintaining the elongated drawer member in a locked condition. A plurality of longitudinally spaced grooves is further included, each spanning the whole vertical height of the main body portion. The grooves facilitate the non-pivotal flexing of the disconnect latch so as to allow the stop surface to clear the locking member when downward pressure is applied to the lever, as well as to allow shock absorption during impact of the stop surface against the stopper.

5520452 - File cabinet drawer slide disconnect - Owned by Hon Industries Inc. (Muscatine, IA)

A file cabinet drawer slide assembly comprises a slide arm which is fitted with rotatable rollers, the rollers being dimensioned and configured to support a hem of a cabinet drawer. The slide arm is cooperable with a generally C-shaped track fixed to an inside side wall of the cabinet and configured to receive and support the slide arm in rolling telescoping relationship. A pivotable cam member is secured to the forward end of the slide arm in proximity to one of the rollers defining a slot through which the hem of the drawer travels. The bottom wall of the drawer is provided with a downward projection which engages a cross brace connected to the slide arm and normally prevents removal of the drawer. When the cam member is pivoted away from the hem, the drawer may be lifted sufficiently such that the projection disengages from the cross brace and the drawer can be removed from the cabinet.
