An air conditioner includes a body and a filter-carrying apparatus mounted to the body for carrying a removable filter. The filter-carrying apparatus includes a grill mounted to the body for rotation about a horizontal axis adjacent its lower end between a closed position adjacent the body and an open position spaced from the body. A filter guide structure guides a filter for sliding movement relative to the grill along a guide path. The filter guide structure is operably connected to the grill for movement therewith away from the body when the grill is moved to its open position. The guide path defined by the filter guide structure is oriented at an angle relative to a plane of the grill when the grill is in its open position. The filter guide structure can be rigidly connected to the grill to form a permanently angled relationship therebetween, or it can be pivotally mounted for movement relative to the grill so that the angled relationship is formed only when the grill is rotated to its open position.

An air filter device for an air-conditioning apparatus includes a mounting frame unit, an axle mounted rotatably to the mounting frame unit, and a plurality of blade-like frames mounted axially on and projecting radially from a peripheral surface of the axle. The blade-like frames are spaced angularly apart from one another. A plurality of filtering sheets are held respectively by the blade-like frames. Each of the filtering sheets covers an entire area confined by a respective one of the blade-like frames. The filtering sheet includes active carbon fabric felt which is made by weaving activated carbon fiber filaments.

A combination filter module unit and replaceable filter element is disclosed, for use with an air handling system. The filter module unit provides channel construction for guiding the filter element between support legs. An access door provides a forth side to the rectangular unit. The filter element is of the typical flat rectangular construction type and includes a support frame for holding a filter media, the filter element frame being adapted to tightly fit within the outer frame so that air cannot flow around the filter element. A handle is used to insert and extract the filter element and provides a second function of providing a wedging surface for the access door to ride upon in achieving wedging action against the filter element so that the element is locked securely in place. The module provides double wall construction to enable fasteners to be place away from the filter element to avoid interference with it and to achieve a clean appearance.

The invention is a filter assembly which covers a disk drive slot to prevent the intrusion of dust and other particles into the slot. The assembly includes a filter-carrying frame which is pivotally mounted to a computer housing. When mounted to a computer housing, the frame is pivotable between an open position, wherein the frame extends outwardly to allow entry of a disk into an exposed disk drive slot, and an operative position, wherein the frame abuts the housing so that the filter of the frame prevents intrusion of dust and other particulate matter into a disk drive slot. In a preferred embodiment, the frame is formed from a pair of opposing flat members which hold the filter therebetween and which are separable to allow easy filter replacement.

An air filtering apparatus and filter mounting device for sealing a filter within an air filtering apparatus, utilizes at least one cam surface to force a filter to compress a gasket to provide an effective seal between the air filter and its associated air outlet.
